How fluid is writing with the pen in OneNote? Is there a lot of lag? How natural does it feel to you? 🤔

Hello, the apps do indeed open very quickly without lag or anything. I have also found that this does not reduce if you have loads of different apps open at the same time. This is also the 6GB version which is good enough I think, especially for what I will use it for

@@muaaz7072 Nope not my one. I'm not going to get a Windows anymore I just can't handle it. I can't access a lot of apps unlike on Android. I only use my Surface Pro for school and Microsoft apps when I can access it anywhere from my phone to other devices such as school desktops without any hassle with the use of ONE DRIVE.

Is this through a setting on the Tab? There is shortcut key on the keyboard and a quick access button when drag down on the screen but not seen if attach keyboard it automatically goes to Dex

@@ed_nico It's a setting in DeX within the settings menu. There is a setting "Auto start when book cover keyboard is connected". Select that and it does work.

Hello, just an update for anyone who might be interested in this. So after Ed's prompt reply I got curious and did a bit of googling. Selecting non-adjacent cells is such a simple and core function in Excel that I always believed there must be some fundamental issues with mobile systems that don't allow it to work and that's why it's not available. It never occurred to me that it was deliberately left out. However, it seems I was wrong. As it turns out this has been a reported issue with Excel Online and the mobile versions of Excel (both under Android and iOS) for several years now and the fault lies with Microsoft in this matter. They haven't added this functionality to Excel so Samsung or Android have nothing to do with it. I just tested Google Sheets and it seems you can easily select non-adjacent cells on an android phone, even without a keyboard and dedicated function keys.

Looks like you need a Surface for this :/

@@mikewhite955 I don't think I do. I don't own a laptop because I am not mobile most of the year. There are only a few occasions a year where I could make use of one, outside of which it would be just sitting on the table catching dust (I have a powerful PC setup at home both for work and gaming). However a tablet I can use for reading articles on the couch or playing on the go while on public transport, it's a much more convenient form factor in a small package that I would use even at home regularly. The reason I am looking for a tablet with some work-friendly features is that it would be nice to have the chance to get some work done during those few occasions when I need it. A Surface is larger, heavier and more expensive, quite frankly it seems it's just too much for my needs.

Hi Vicki, to be honest I have not had these issues that you are mentioning. I do usually close all apps on a regular basis even though this is not really required so maybe that helps

Hello Joe, I am afraid it sounds like you have a defective cover - mine in no matter which position the table / kickstand / keyboard are in, the cover does not budge at all and stays on strong. I hope I understood your question correctly, but let me know if not. thanks

Hi Ben, in the videos i just show it on the desk, but this can absolutely be used on your lap and I am using it now slouched on the couch replying to comments. It does work very well on the lap too. Does take a little to get used to as it is not as sturdy as a laptop keyboard but you will quickly get the hang of it

On my Note 9, in Dex mode i have a mod/app from xda called Desktop Hub which allows snap to sides (windows left/right arrow, using a BT keyboard) ... The windows adjust themselves...just like the multi-window in non dex as shown in video. Not sure though on S6 as i dont own one. Maybe Ed can search, install and test (i think the app is available in Play Store)....it improves by 100 times the Dex experience

Hola Alejandro, Google Play Books works very well and it easy very easy to get use (exact same as mobile version). When in landscape more it given even more of a feel of being a real book as you have pages side by side

It's an Office thing ...you can't. I work in Dex mode in a Note 9 all the time and it pains me so much I can't have 2 Excel files opened. I use Microsoft's and WPS Office ...but i hate it

Hi Ares, it is very comfortable to write on - I have used the writing quite extensively in the past week and loving it. It is very easy to use and feels like writing on paper as opposed to glass. The cover can lie flat on the table so feels like writing on a notepad, or you can have it at a slight angle with the kickstand open. You should have no issues at all

Hello Sahil, you are correct - the stylus can be placed at the top of the tablet and it will stick there. It does not charge in that position but makes it a lot easier if you are writing and typing as it is in a very easy to reach place. Thanks for the tip

I was in 2 minds - I was thinking of getting the Surface Go or a Pro model before this Tablet came out. I decided to go for the Tablet as needed something portable that I could carry around with me and do emails, review office files, take notes, and surf the web. The Surface, although does have the Desktop version of Office (the Tablet only has mobile version) the mobile version is good enough for my needs. If i need the full desktop experience I can do this at my desk. The table is also somewhat cheaper than Surface - which starts at GBP 879 and then GBP 100 for the keyboard.

Hi, I have had not problems with taking notes on the tablet - I use Onenote and save my notebooks to Onedrive so that they sync across multiple devices. I take notes on the Tablet and these sync to my Laptop. With the Tablet and Keyboard it is extremely easy to take notes using the Keypad as well as the stylus - or both. Hope this helps

Hi Andy, As Ben pointed out the navigation buttons can be removed. The operating system is the One UI which is the same as on the S10 so you can pretty much do the exact same things

@@ed_nico That is great. I kept watching all the videos and I don't believe I saw a single video where someone turned off these nav buttons and used the tablet with the gestures. I have an iPad Pro and want to get one fo these tablets as well but if the old school nav buttons are all there is and the OS has been dumbed down to remove the flexibility one now has on most phones I'd probably pass.

They kind of did support their last Tablets as they released a few models in the past few years. I have not seen anything of late but given it runs Android with Samsung OneUI which is the same as on the S10 for example, i suspect if they update that, they will also push through an update for the tablet (hope so anyway). What laptop are you considering?

I'm using the old Tab S3 and just the other day, I was surprised to find out that they updated it to Android 9 with the new One UI. This has breathed new life to S3. It runs like a new tablet. It seems that Samsung does stand by their older products.

Surface in my opinion comes out a little more expensive when you buy the pen, keyboard etc. However the choice comes down to the operating system, as there is not much else between them. If you cannot move away from Windows for when you are on the move you would be better of getting a Surface as you will miss some of the Windows functionality such as fully fledged Office. If not, then got for the Tab S6

@@ed_nico yeah I know just not the intensity of the saturation its preconfigured I like it before 2015 they had cinema and that was even nicer looking and adaptive was less later they just have adaptive as the most pop colors and cinema amoled and photo amoled are extremely unsaturated even worse than LCD on my laptop . I can tell that it doesnt show extended color gamut. The best looking ones have a nice wide color gamut which makes things look like hot and hdr type colors . It's too bad it's not available for a movie watching tablet like this. Also I have galaxy s9plus and the colors are like double the saturation and pop nicely it's quite blissful to look at

Hi h1a8 - here are a few features missing, these are the mobile version of the apps so not the fully fledged desktop apps. Things missing include being able to select cells in excel with the Ctrl key, being able to open more than one window of the same office program at the same time (i.e. 2 Excel windows) etc.

@@ed_nico Thank you. I use equation editor in Word. I don't think the mobile version has the full feature set. I also enable the statistics add in (data analysis) in excel. I don't think the mobile version has that. I have full sized open back headphones that I use all the time. It was an error to get rid of the headphone jack. I'll probably stick to the surface pro or something similar.

I agree with the Headphone jack. I know there are Bluetooth headphones available, but I like the wired ones - nothing like being nice and simple. In terms of Office - the mobile version does not have everything but it does have enough to work on the move. I suspect you will need to go for a higher spec Surface to do some considerable data analysis / modelling which will push up the cost. Hi Harold, I was thinking of replacing my laptop for this tablet but I find using Excel (especially) so much more easier on a laptop than a tablet - things are just more fluid with the keyboard and things. On a day to day usage the tablet can easily handle word processing or tweaking a pptx
