Heard rumors that one of the major companies is working on a small GPS position transmitter that fits onto the top of existing flagsticks. They also work on a universal software interface so that the position signal can be picked up by GPS watches, smartphone golf apps and GPS screens on electric trolleys to show the exact pin position on the green. That would be a fantastic feature!

I just picked up a 2nd hand samsung smart watch for this app because of this video. It makes it so much easier to use now. Sometimes trying to track shots with the phone can be frustrating as I would have to press track shot then turn the phone off to standby mode. If I forget to put the phone to standby mode I would end up pressing buttons in my pocket and messing up the tracking. I also don't want to keep getting my phone out of my pocket. I got the watch for £70 with postage, it's a samsung gear s3. Well worth it.

Gr8 review! I'm considering a new smart watch (Galaxy 4) for my daily notifications and for Golf GPS. Am very curious about the battery life on a Samsung watch while using Golf GPS. Does yours handle 36 holes on one day or at least easily 18 holes and get enough charge in an hour to make it through 18 more?

Nice review! I'm not really a watch wearer especially a smart watch but this looks pretty simple to use. I like how it adjusted for wind. I use to use my phone out on the course for yardage but now I use a range finder. I love the range finders for its accuracy but there are times were a watch is a great backup. Sometimes the range finder don't work if its foggy, dark, or the pin is just too far away. Great chip in for birdie out there! That was cool!

Thank you :) yeh I felt the same at first, but it really is a bit more simple than always using the rangefinder, for some distances, usually below 100 I often double-check the distance to the flag, because the watch only shows to the front, middle, and back and sometimes the flag is at a weird spot, but besides that, it's really accurate and convenient. And especially for longer shots when you just want to have an idea how much is left and where you want to lay up. If you get the chance to try one some da, id totally recommend it!

Great review! Does the watch update the distance if you leave your phone far away in the golf cart, trolly, or pull cart? ie. You pull up to a Par 3 and the distance is 120 yards. You get out of the golf cart (where phone is) and you have to walk 20 yards back to the tee box. Does the watch update to 140 yards?

That standalone feature. Do you nee to have your phone in the bag and connected via Bluetooth? Or csn you leave it in the car and use it a pure standalone without any connection to the watch at all?

That's exactly how I have it set up. Bought a S3 used just for this. Nice vid. Why did you stop making vids? .. Ignore the mask comments, that was 2 years ago folks, crazy world we all had to endure.

That is an amazing tool. I assume it's getting the wind information from the weather forecast. Sadly as a golfer who plays comps I can't use that in a comp. Good for practice rounds and finding your distances.

Yeh it's pretty cool, I'm quite impressed. I think it comes with a tournament mode, so you can just activate it and it's tournament conform. The public courses don't really have tournaments here, that's definitely the advantage of being a member someone. Do you have some tournaments coming up?

Sorry only reading it now. If you have the watch you don’t really need the tags . The tracking is easy enough on the watch alone :)

I have my golf pad running on a galaxy 1 watch , tags and Hauwei P30 pro phone, a little temperamental but yes , good. Looking forward to try the tags direct to the watch, phone on flight mode, watch on NFC : )

the plays like feature gets more accurate the more you track your shots for each club based on your exact yardage.

If you want to go and shot a good score, Harding is as good a course as any. If you get in trouble, it's not hard to recover, and if you're hitting your driver well, it's mid-iron to wedge on the approach shots all day long. My favorite course.

I agree!! Harding is my favorite course around here also!! I love the 18th hole when the sun is setting, so pretty! Wilson is nice also, but sometimes i feel like its just too many dog legs :D

Hey, hm when I look for courses on my phone I have basically an unlimited amount of courses. They should be there automatically. If they don’t show I’d recommend you send them a quick email and I’m sure they’ll fix it for you. What do you see when you search for courses?

Great video. Very informative. I don’t have the watch but I use the app a lot. One cool feature is you can send a link to your friends and they can watch your scorecard as you put your scores in and follow your round.

Harper Golf yes. I try to do it at Rustic Canyon and it kills my battery every time. You can send the link and then put them in after though. It just won’t be informing them as you play.

Harper Golf I really only use it for sharing the scorecard. I have a laser rangefinder so don’t really use gps anymore.

Good question! Unfortunately you cannot tap the tags on the watch. So you’ll have to tap the phone. You can use both at the same time but in order to tag you need the phone. I hope that helps 🙌🙌

Nice video man I use this app on my ticwatch Pro 2. It's a bit infuriating at times but that's more to do with my watch itself being buggy as hell

Hey , it doesn’t show graphics , tho it shows distances to the yardage markers for example . I hope that helps !

Thats a good question - I would assume it should be possible - maybe email the guys from golfpad and ask if they can add your course to their collection :)

These are GREAT ! However, being absent of a feature allowing the player to accumulate statistics on the driving range is a shocking, almost unimaginable oversight. Seriously..... I keep thinking that I must be missing something. Literally ZERO additional materials or manufacturing costs and statistical information could have been increased ten fold ! I still can't help but wonder if I just haven't figured out how range mode is engaged.

Yeh unfortunately you’ll have to tap on the phone. I was hoping for it to work when tapping on the watch as well. But technically it’s almost easier to add the shot manually on your watch. Either way would have been a nice feature to have 🙌 are you using one or the other ?

Hey Josh ! Good questions. That won’t work because it tracks gps coordinates from shot to shot you’ll always have to walk up to the ball to know the distance I hope that helps! A launch monitor would be your best option I made a video about the swing caddie sc200 plus in case that’s of interest 🙂

Hey ! Yeh it’s pretty precise. At least as far as I’ve been seeing when I sometimes double check the distance with my rangefinder it’s always pretty much on point. I’m using it every time now. Don’t like going without it on the course haha

I think that you cant see your score is probably a really good idea...How many rounds have you ruined because your doing well and there are only 3 easy holes to go ?? I'm about to bike to the shops and get the Galaxy 3...for just this function...integration with Golf Pad...but on your arm...Oh some nice shots there bud..

Thank you buddy !! That's so funny you say that. I literally just made a video about how I've been getting stressed keeping such close eye on my score and how I play a lot better not knowing my score. Haha After realizing that I totally agree not being able to see the score for the most parts is better. I think you're making the right choice with the added smart watch. It really is super convenient to use!

@@TalkingGolf Forget the score completely, you knowwhenyour playing well concentrate til the end and surprise yourself with the score..I got the watch today..loaded Golf Pad..gonna take a while to get used to it. In standalone mode...i take it you have to stay in bluetooth range of your bag?

Very true ! That's exactly what I'm now focussing to do also :) In order to activate stand alone mode. You have to connect phone with watch then open the app on the phone , choose connected mode, then open app on watch. Then switch to stand alone mode on phone , then turn off bluetooth on either watch or phone ( I usually turn on airplane mode on watch) and that's it . The gps of your watch is now in place and you can leave your phone at home technically. Let me know if it works out :) once you got the drill it's quite straight forward

They don't work with the watch unfortunately, but technically it's almost more simple to just add them manually in your watch. Have you been using the tags ?

Yeh I think tracking your shots and knowing your exact distances can totally help to improve. I think adding the shots with the smartwatch is a little bit more convinent than the tags. If you happen to have one totally use it otherwise the tags will do the job also. There is a discount code in the description if you're interested 👌 just make sure your phone has NFC

It’s just called the Samsung galaxy watch . If you google it it’s the one with the silver / red/ black interface :) it’s one model before the 3 but for some reason it’s not called 2 haha I hope that helps! Let me know if you found it !

I thought about buying a watch like that too, is it reliable? I honestly prefer a range finder though, I have been using my old one lately and I seem to love it. I did have a garmin watch before that is now broken, but for some reason I prefer a range finder!!!

Yeh its really reliable, I've been checking the distances with my normal rangefinder to be sure and its been on point every time. I've been hearing the same about the Garmin, they break easily and don't really work too well. I really like that I can track my shots with the watch and how convenient it is to just see the distances. Using a rangefinder is always a bit more work. The cool think about a smartwatch, you can use it for more than just golf. You should give it a try

I used it With Android, if you have a Samsung watch and an iPhone it doesn’t work unfortunately. (I’ve tried that ) You’d need iPhone + Apple Watch. 🙌 happy new year !

I'm never alone I just try not to include other people in the video. Courses are ridiculously packed at any time in LA haha. Just being responsible for the elderly 👌 I hope so are you :)
