Been with a Q950t and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. Super easy to set up, outstanding audio quality, the 3D surround sound is very impressive, specially considering my living room setup isn’t the most appropriate. Being quite honest, I don’t even care about the screen being on top. Def prefer this over the overrated and overpriced Sonos.

Great review Daniel, love the lint roller on the Q. I was doing the same thing just this week. :) Glad you pointed out the Q drop-outs. I think I've found the criteria for this not happening, for anyone considering the purchase, as I've now tested it on two TVs: 1. Devices connected to soundbar via HDMI: drop-outs 2. Devices connected to TV and then ARC out: drop-outs 3. Devices connected via eARC: appears to be flawless (two weeks now and no sound bugs). Yes I upgrade my TV for this damn thing. Also, connected this way, the new LG TVs don't output DTS, so I believe I'm missing that feature now (closer and closer to a Sonos Arc...?).

Prepping a video to dig deeper into some of these issues. Appreciate the insights. Seems non eARC and Apple TV (LPCM which is ostensibly not supported) are causing the most cutouts. Testing with LG C9 (eARC) has led to pretty stable sound.

Is the Hw Q90r better as the 950 in conjunction with the Apple tv 4k? Cause i will connect the atv directly to the soundbar. And rtings reviewed the 950 and Atmos sound is better with the90r. And if the dropouts are also non existent with the90r than my decision is clear.

Great review, was waiting before I pulled the trigger on either of these but I think I’m going to go with the LG, even if the sound is slightly worse, any cutting out of audio wrt the Samsung is unacceptable. Especially when the Soundbar is going to be listened to by your average person, a product that doesn’t work is a product that can’t be used. Thank you so much!

Yo Daniel! Great work! Nitpicking here: very confusing trying to stay with you when you wiggle(mostly the right one😂) & point the opposite hand of the device you’re explaining, especially trying to keep track and reference 11 R Q 950 to Samsung / LG. Mega difficult when cross-handed 😂

It’s still in the box, need to decide on what projector I’m going with, torn between Epsom TW7000 and optoma 51UHD however my mind in the last few days has started looking at ultra short throw 🙈😂👌🏻

Love the indepth videos and reviews, far better than a 5 or 10 minute video that tells you nothing. Also love hearing about the user experience. I had the Q90R soundbar last week for one week and took it back because the app wouldn't connect unless I took the plug out the mains and back in again and it didn't turn on when the tv was turned on. Also I was a little underwhelmed by the sound. Anyway I would love you to do a review and some comparison videos with the Sennheiser. Also the Bang and Olufsen bar might be interesting oh and the Klipsch ( hopefully we get it in the UK ) or pretty much any higher end soundbar. Thanks keep the videos coming.

What most reviewers call a review you can get the information from the packaging, so no use really. I don't want to sound like I'm blowing smoke up your a*** but keep up the good work.

I have the Samsung 900t and I am getting drop outs and a purple screen that says "hdcp unauthorized content disable". You mentioned something about the Eero mesh router, that's what I have. I've replaced all usb cables and changed out my Roku and it has to be something with the soundbar. Any ideas or suggestions. Super annoying. It didn't do this with my cheap samsung soundbar I've had for 5 years.

Thank you for the review. I just purchased the Q950T for 1500 here in Canada. After watching this video though, I am kinda regretting it. My biggest concern is the lack of support for LPCM 5.1/7.1 and bandwidth issues with eARC. Do you think either of these will be addressed in a firmware update? I’m almost considering returning the Q950T and watching out for a Q90R as my main use is for console gaming. Appreciate your input!

I imagine it will get better ... there will certainly be more firmware updates ... but I have no idea how much better. If I were not a YTber I’d have returned it. All this said ... I’d encourage you to test it out ... I would confirm on your end that all my scare stories are playing out on your machine ... I say this since it’s already there or coming your way. If you think it’s not performing the Q90R is a good alternative.

NeverEnoughTech Thanks for this!! I have tested it out the last few days. No drop outs but it is hard for me to get over the lack of LPCM support since I use a gaming console a lot. From my understanding, the Q90R supports LPCM 5.1/7.1 - so not sure why this was forgotten. Anyways, I have tried to reach out to Samsung for answers but good luck trying to get any.. Samsung’s support of their products has never been great (just ask HW-N950 owners). Appreciate your input man!

Not to make things harder for you but Samsung via two sources has said none of their soundbars support LPCM (over phone and forum). Perhaps both sources are wrong or there there are workarounds on Q90R as I did not run into the same kinds of issues. If the forums claim Q90R works well for gaming ... I’d lean toward their wisdom.

Yes - LG - I can see why that is confusing. You can tell it’s LG by the faux brushed metal. Can also check out the SN11RG unpacking video which gives more detail on what’s exactly in the box

hi thx for your review. i have a question for you. I have yamaha ysp 5600. it's a great soundbar. This yamaha, works better in a big hall, and regular room. In not regular room, atmos its difficult to heard correctly. I think that a soundbar with rear speakers for atmos can be better for my situation. For you, if i substitute my 5600 with lg 11 or 950 t can i have more intensity of atmos and audio? I don't care about the music, just audio for movies, deep dialogue, and atmosphere, with bass. In case of changing the soundbar, which one do you recommend between the two only for fim and no music? thanks for your reply

For just movies in particular uncompressed Audio (and Atmos)- Q950T is the bar to beat. There are annoying usability quirks and keep in mind LPCM is not supported so you May encounter some issues with Apple TV and gaming consoles. But if watching BRs you’re golden

I'm very conflicted now after watching your great in depth review.. I've just purchased the Samsung HW-Q950T with a LG GX 65". Now I'm not sure if I should've got the LG SN11RG for the audio support over better sound with the HW-Q950T.. what would you recommend for the best audio experience?

The Q950T is more frustrating but has better sound (though sometimes susceptible to dropouts) - the SN11RG is not perfect either. If you go Q950T, avoid Apple TV seems to exasperate the dropout issue. May also want to watch my Q950T follow up video where I play different formats to see more the kinds of things that can go wrong

The Sennheiser Ambeo I read comes with a real microphone, manufactured by Sennheiser themselves ( it’s what they do.) Wondering if the LG has a microphone input, and would it benefit from this during the initial setup to get that dynamic sound quality we are all looking for? Rather than using the internal microphone that comes with the bar. Maybe that’s the wink link here???

I think the Q950T sounds a little better after update and spending more time. I don’t really know how much the material impacts the sound because it’s confounded with the different speakers in the soundbar.

How does the lg soundbar fit underneath the lg cx? Does it block the screan?

If the CX sits like the C9 it blocks some of the screen. If there is any kind of letterboxing then it seems low enough that only the black part is blocked.

Another great video,. I have the Sonos arc home theater system setup to LG CX oled tv, and my question is are Ultra hd blue ray players still worth it. I don’t notice a difference between Netflix streaming Dolby vision movies , and using the Panasonic ub820 blue ray player.

If you aren’t hearing a difference than probably not. Maybe a little less likely to hear the difference on a Sonos than a more specialized bar. I do hear a difference with Sonos but definitely more likely to stream than mess with a disc. I think 4KBR and beefy Atmos bar are serving perhaps a niche market but they seem to be serving that niche well. My thoughts.

The difference in picture and sound quality between BRD and Netflix is huge. In short, Netflix sports really poor picture and sound, in comparison. The better TV, the more obvious it is. If you don't see any difference, eye check should be performed by a specialist. ASAP. Same goes for hearing.

Loved it and still here on the 33rd minute. I have hw-k950 Series 9 and it has 2.0 for PCM that is pathetic...and Q950T STILL the same is even more pathetic. Also your unit cuts off randomly on sound....which K950 did and still does randomly. Which means Samsung did F all on fixing that major issue which literally spoils the experience for me. I was going for SN11RG but oinly HDMI 2.0....so I will for their next years model which should have 2.1, so it will be future proofed. Thanks again for great detailed Vs's video. Subbed!

This is my 1st viewing of any of your videos & I see all these comments asking you to review the Nakamichi 9.2.4 then I saw one of your responses from a couple months ago saying you would try to make it possible... So I go directly to your channel, lo & behold you uploaded the very video just 10 hours ago. So I'm leaving this video to go watch that instead. Thanks for getting around to it because I'm tired of Samsung's BS when it comes to their sound bars,especially with their continued problems with the rears, it feels like they're purposely putting out crap products because they'll sell, like releases broken unfinished games. I'm thinking about just getting a reciever & piece mealing the whole surround components.

Sonos is better overall considering sound, frustration, quality of life. Samsung is better for 3D audio playing through blue rays. Sonos will definitely keep its value better.

Other than the Ambeo this to me after testing a few sound bars is the best I’ve heard and I have no issues with it so far. I have to add that I have a CX55 LG TV and if the LG SN11G wasn’t so wide I might have considered it just because it would play better with the TV.

Good review, subbed. I wish you could have tested Q-Symphony, but I understand you don't have a 2020 damming tv. Besides, I'd venture to say it wouldn't add much with this soundbar given the amount of channels that would drown them out. Probably the q800t and q70t would benefit more from it.

I did have problems with the [sound drop out] on the Samsung HW-Q60T when i play music or watch movies. I don't know if this model have a problem or all [The Samsung Qs, HWs] have. But I am afraid to purchased another Samsung Soundbar, I am still looking around for the best, deeper powerful bass soundbar.

Hello, I bought this LG Bar and hooked up with Sony 65XH95 2020model. I have connected to HDMI 3 E-Arc/Arc on Sony TV and have enabled HDMI 3 to enhanced mode as well. Still on the bar it shows me Arc and not E-Arc. Just confused what am I doing wrong that bar is not detecting E-Arc. Both the bar and TV are at the updated software version. Will really appreciate if you could help on this.

Tested both, and went with the LG. Sound and power was so much better in LG and it was easier to fit under the TV. Samsung sound was not as crisp and lacked something in sound vs LG.

I'm currently undecided, the LG SN11RG or the Q90R. According to RTings the sound overall is better on the samsung, but the missing room correction setup and lack of chromecast support got me hesitant. any recommendations between the two? My room is simple, except for an open door on the right of the soundbar and close to 12 feet high ceilings. Sitting 7,5 feet from the bar. Music and gaming equally 40% and streaming 20% importance

Samsung does have better sound. LG I think is an overall better experience though also flawed. I lean LG based on your use breakout. If it was 80% steaming I might say Q90R

Doesn’t handle LPCM that well. So are you using an Apple TV or gaming console. I think Q950T is really only good for playing blue rays via uncompressed bitstream

I suspect the nakamichi will win amongst those that want a bulldozer of a soundbar. Arc I suspect will win on providing a well rounded experience with better third party content/ app/ MultiRoom/ device streaming options. That being said I plan on getting around to the nakamichi to see if my expectations are way off.

@@liberfarb From my experience, I returned my Samsung after spending an hour trying to get the rear channels to communicate with the Soundbar. I went with the LG instead. The drop off in sound is not as bad and the Q is not worth the headache.

I think there are differences between region. I am not an expert on what those are. Have you tried calling support … they are often disappointing but may have the info you need

YG@@neverenoughtech I called them, and they said HDMI are 1.4. but i couldnt beleave because even in the specifications i found it come with AAA x 3 batteries, and of course it have to come with only two batteries (becouse the same control), another hope i had is becouse SN9YG has the same port HDMI 2.0 as US model. thank you!!

i got the hw950qt and im having major issues with the rear speakers, distortion is ripe. tried resetting repairing no good, i dont think they are faulty as would be hard to believe both would be faulty as both have the issue i think its just plain poor connection between the bar and the rear kits and nothing can fix it. latest firmware. i upgraded from the 2018 sk10 lg, sound is a tiny bit better but i am looking to return this and go to the sn11rg. the display on top sucks too. taking advantage of samsungs 60 day money back guarentee.

I had trouble connecting my Huawei mate 20 pro to the samsung, while it was no problem with a samsung galaxy phone. I don't know if other people have the same problem, but it might be a bummer for a lot of people outside of US if their phone can't connect.

Sonos for I think best overall experience (but I hear there is some frustration with Android) - Sonos will want Apple device and eARC TV Q950T - may need to make sure ps5 is not passing LPCM in audio settings - change to not stream Atmos is not as great but the LG SN11RG will give you big sound without some of the hassles I mentioned and without speaker wire like the Nakamichi

I recently got the Q950T to replace an ancient LG home theater in a box. I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it, but I’ve been pretty happy with its sound quality for music. The bass is incredibly extended, but detailed and not overwhelming. You may need to play with the sub positioning, though, as I found room resonances and nodes to be a significant factor. The 2 channel to 9.1.4 channel upscaling is pretty good for music, I think. I’ve only tested true surround sources in a limited fashion, so can’t say a whole lot about that besides, “it seems good”. I couldn’t find an Atmos source - I don’t have any recent Blu-rays, Amazon Prime Video removed any traces of Atmos at least six months ago, and Apple TV+ can’t be casted to a Chromecast. So that’s disappointing, but not the system’s fault. The concern about the Samsung system not supporting Chromecast is a non-issue. Just get an actual friggin’ Chromecast. It’s only $50 and I guarantee it will continue to function as a Chromecast a lot longer than LG’s third-party support will last. Up until a month ago I was still using a first gen Chromecast and it worked great. I had a few instances of audio dropout, but it hasn’t been a major issue so far. I have a tri-band AC router, so there may be some 5GHz interference, but it’s located in another room. I didn’t have any issues at all with pairing. I followed the instructions by plugging in the sub first, then the rears, then the bar, and everything paired immediately even before I updated the firmware. The only connection issue I have had happens when I start the system after it has turned itself off for a while - about 50% of the time, the sub will stay off and there will be no bass or surround. Unplugging the sub and plugging it back in has always worked to immediately fix that problem, even though it doesn’t follow the rules for power-on order. It’s a little annoying, but not a major issue as you online need to do it at most once per session.

Both soundbars have HDMI 2.1. eARC is also supported starting with HDMI 2.1, so how come 11 is written with 2.0 ? :)

Bad documentation - lg official US documentation said 2.0. I made corrections in the description but it seems I somehow erased it when I made other updates. I’ll get the corrections back up.

I always want to find a Samsung Q9 50 T but some of the reviews said it’s very frustrating so I’ll just buy the older model of the Samsung Q 90 R and plus it has a better design so yeah I’ll go with a Q 90 R or the LGS 11 are cheap but some people say it’s kind of bad or the Sonos arc and plus I still want to buy like a nice flatscreen TV but I don’t know which sound bar to buy either the Samsung Q 90 are the Sonos arc or the neck Cama Chi 9.2

I just got my JBL 9.1 system and paired it with my LG C9 65 in TV. The sound is fantastic, especially when the movie has Dolby atmos. The big selling point for me was the two rear speakers which are truly wireless. No wires or plugging it in to socket. You just remove them and place them on a flat surface behind you and the sound is truly amazing! The Dolby surround sound is wonderful for regular listening for music or regular tv programs. I tested mine with the netflix movie 6 underground and with Avengers endgame. I was blown away by the sound. Dialogue was clear and the sound effects of bombs, cars, helicopters, thunder, etc. eargasm! So i would highly recommend this system. No regrets here!

@@Vladimir_M_V The way i connected mine was to connect the HDMI eARC from the soundbar to the eARC in my tv. All of my sounds come from the tv to the soundbar including Netflix, prime video or any other tv or movie show. I have a PS4 and an Xbox One S and have no problem playing games and apps in surround sound. Just make sure that your tv's eARC is turned on and that your audio is in pass through mode. other than that you are good to go!

The Q950T actually does support Dolby Vision passthrough, contrary to what you say. It’s not listed in the manuals or spec sheets but it does nonetheless.
