Hi Josh, I spoke to samsung about the widget, and they told me to clear the data in application settings, and it worked. Now I can post my to dos, love it. By the way your review on this tab, actually convinced me to give it a testdrive. Great review.

Great review Joshua, I got one myself as a birthday present and really love this tablet. Since I got mine brand new on for only $330.00 eBay vs. $400.00 @ BestBuy I went ahead and splurged on getting the Samsung case in both white and dark gray and they both complimented the tab really nicely. Like you said, it's not a perfect tablet but in my in my opinion, this tab is sure a lot better than Apples's iPad mini. Cheers!

you can hold the bottom on the pen then double tap on the screen to open quick note. You can also hold the button then push the pen tip against the screen for a second to take a screen shot then write on the screen shot. Do this method on a paused video to capture the frame of video as a picture then write on it

very good review, does the Nook app comes pre loaded or you doanloaded from play store ?

The Nook app was downloaded from the Play store. As a former Nook owner, all my content was ported over to the app automatically. I do believe the Nook app allows you to preview some material for free (magazines, etc.) New content can be downloaded and purchased within the app through B&N's "shop". Hope that helps!

hi Josh. can you tell me can i change the locked icons in the dock on this galaxy note? when snote opens i would like to open the full widget not the one on the bottom, but can't seem to be able to di. if this is the only thing i worry about though its all good. your review great. thanks

I'm leaning towards the Note 8 instead of the Nexus 7 mainly because of the added features plus the S Pen (by the way, you can touch the capacitive buttons on the bottom with the pen and they will work)

Hi just wondering what were the best apps you found for note taking since you said you are a med student (ill be going to school for nursing soon so I wanted to find the best tablet to take with me its between this and the surface right now....also youre able to print also correct ?

thanks man yes I'll probably go check it out at a samsung store, but I think I'll actually go all out with the microsoft surface pro 2. I hope the note taking is as good as on the note 10.1. If it is, couple that will the full blown desktop tablet experience and I think it's going to be perfect for university.

I wish I had this during my pre-clinical years for note taking. With adobe reader or Polaris, you can use the stylus to edit and annotate pdfs and .ppts. I plan on having it in my whitecoat pocket while rounding.

Hi. How's this tablet for reading? Do you see the pixels? I ask you because I plan to use it for that purpose primarily, like read pdf's, ebooks in general, newspapers, webpages, etc, and want to do annotations and highlights in that files with the stylus too. It comes with Polaris Office, which is a fairly robust office app that allows you to create and edit .doc, .ppt, and .xls files. However, it's certainly more limited than a full MS Office desktop version.

I'm a writer who is also going back to college for my next series of degrees. Typing is great and all, but I love the experience of writing so much more. I considered the "Boogie Board Sync 9.1". You can save your writing and drawings on it, but it has no recall on the screen to view previous saves. That lead me to wanting this Galaxy Note 8 (which I love dearly from what I seen so far). My question is: is the Galaxy Note 8 the best electronic writing tablet for shopping on a budget?

Should I buy this or wait for the Nexus 7 2? What really interests me in the Note 8 is the S-Pen which should be useful for me since I'm a graphic artist. It would be nice to be able to draw ideas and stuff. I heard that the Nexus 7 is an all around better tablet though? Also it's cheaper but I wouldn't mind paying more for something that would work better for my purposes.

Hi Josh, I noticed that your aNote HD widget is on your home screen and is working. My widget does not work, can you suggest anything for me? I really like it.

imo, it's underpowered for CAD or full Adobe imaging/drafting software. However, as a wacom pad, it's got a nice texture with appropriate resistance for drawing. Some apps, like the included S-note, have "auto shape" recognition that changes drawn lines, arrows, and shapes into "perfect" form with straight lines and proper angles, etc.

Anti Sharon, on most Android phones you will get 'default apps' which have been installed at the factory and most of these cannot be move to an sd card or uninstalled however there are a lot of apps out there on Google Play Store that you will no doubt download in the future that have the 'move to sd card' option.

Yes I'm wondering the same thing. I think it's best to be able to rest your hand on the screen while note taking. Also, I'm hesitating between the note 10.1 (2014 edition) and the note 8 for university. Any input would be appreciated !

go gators :) haven't played with the 10.1 at all, as i was looking for something smaller, but for serious drawing/drafting, the bigger the better i'd say. I also think you can get some great discounts on both now, but def the 10.1 same resolution with fewer ppi, though.

On S note,while writting by just clicking the button on S Pen it will give you options to use pen eraser or text

hello, what happens if you rest your palm while writing on the note? and also, if while writing, your palm accidentally touched the back button, would it close the app? (or will the capacitive physical keys work when the s-pen is on the note?)

I love mine enought that I bought 2 used tablets.

Skip the first 3:25 as it's just a rehash of the device layout and physical config...yawn....after that when he gets into the s-pen it's a lot more interesting.

3 and a half minutes before you got a pen out... um perhaps you could throw that early piece into a video titled "Why I like Note 8". As the waffle kind of detracts from an otherwise champion review/demo
