Hi there... I like to see how to fix stuff. I have a good idea for the next laptops and so on: I do it faster than you - when I see any outer damage like brocken connectors and so on and the laptop is still dead I remove the battery, BIOS battery, RAM (if possible) Keyboard and touchpad and other connectors from the mainboard. Only powerbutton, powercable and monitor stay connected. In that case you can check the naked motherboard for functions. It must beep eight times and any picture or other reactions. Then take one new RAM and test it with that part - picture should be visible - but still BIOS error. Sometimes the BIOS Battery is nearly dead and when you check it you'll see 2.9V or more when not connected. Connected it goes down to less than 2.5V. Most time the BIOS Battery is underneath the right or left side next to the touchpad.

This is useful info if you have a broken screen that is still able to light up but just shows garbage. You can make a lamp from it, by peeling off the layers of LCD material, until you're left with just the backlight layer and the inverter board that can power it. When applying power to this lamp, the inverter will not start if there's no input. So, you can do a resistor divider from the supply voltage that outputs 3.3V. Feed that into those inputs and your screen-lamp will light up when you power it. This laptop probably has some additional liquid damage, probably on the super-IO's 3.3V supply. I think it's just barely working on 19V and not able to work properly on the 12V of the battery. That's why the screen won't stay on and the power button doesn't work when on battery.

I am not sure how this is considered fixed, if the battery cannot hold current to turn the laptop on but holds current pretty good when the laptop is on, that should mean the battery is sort of working fine unless tested more under load which you did not do to eliminate the assumption the battery is not good. So currently the customer has a laptop with working screen since it takes 3v from a different rail instead of the one that suppose to be provided to the inverter, which the battery supplies fine, so how is this a battery issue? I am confused, this by no means is a fix.

Sorin you placed 3.2v randomly ( on a selection of 3 pins ) on a chip without any scheme i can understand that probably is a low voltage ( and you lowered the Amps) and nothing (hoping) can burn... but how you can release a pc without checking the datasheet of this chip ? Just to have a confirmation that everything is OK... and also... what is causing the missing signal ?

@@laboratorioassembler yeah you're right. and the funny thing is that Sorin is very often saying that he NEED to do the job in the cheper way, or very fast, and by using only that things what he has. So he covers or stands behind those lies, but the truth is that, he can do what he wants to do. I bet if Sorin say to his boss - boss I need order 50 powerfull diodes for tv boards, and few mosfets, fuses, set of typical capacitors, and wires, flux, tweezers, etc. then I bet - one Sorin's word and boss is saying OK, no problem. BUT I don't know why, Sorin is lazy (he doesn't create a note what parts is missing during repair, to buy it for the future reparirs) and don't care about quality. My english is not good enough to say it more cleary, but I know what you said and I agree with you .Sorin HAS a power to easly increase job-quailty of this shop and power to ask for better tools. But he is lazy and he gives a shit ( i mean doesn't care). Watching his videos I',m very often impressed and angry in the same time. I don't understand for example -when he is doing good job with the hinges, and very close to his hands there is a cpu/gpu heatsink with fan full with dust and blocked heatsink ribs, and he is doing a sandwitch with hot glue and back-cover. Why the fuck, he don't care to spent 30seconds to flush that heatshing with compressed air or suck out the duct with vacum cleanner. and then customer will not open that cover easly because it is a sandwitch with glue. so WTF?
