I got this monitor last week. Going from a flat panel 1080p 144hz to the G7 is massive. I was worried about the big curve and I do notice it when web browsing but when in a game I forget about it very quickly. Really happy with the purchase.

Just ordered mine now! :D I've been watching lots of videos about the G7 from creators like Hardware Unboxed and Linus Tech Tips etc for the past few weeks now and also looking at various other monitors in general and it seems there's a lot of positive reviews surrounding this monitor and so I just decided to go "fuck it" and go for it. I was a bit 50/50 going for a curved monitor but it appears it's something you can get adjusted to quite easily and also really makes you more immersed in games. I enjoyed your review on this monitor too, definitely helped towards my decision to purchase it.

Bought it then 1 month later i turned to get something of a rack behind me and the thing fell of the table swing arm mount i had set up, all my fault did not set it up properly, shattered the screen, they wanted 600 euro to repair it so i said trash it can get a new one for that price. Its a heavy monitor :)) I LOVE THIS Monitor so i have to buy it again. The curve when playing is hardly noticeable and its not as insane as some make it out to be...... but wow if you like flight sims this thing is great. Ordered a new one today great thing is its on sale for our black friday whatever its 400 euro beats 600 something for a repair. So cant wait to see it again. How is the backlight bleed for you? Is it as much as people tend to say or is it minimal?
@thecooljohn1002 жыл бұрын
@@NFS_ethereal When the screen is black as it is just turning on, it's bad. But during gameplay it's obviously very hard to notice. The screen has really good contrast levels. Deeper blacks than IPS panels. I have had it for almost a month now and I have nothing to legitimately complain about. Fun fact if you care: One of the things I like most about it is that there is little to zero ghosting when the response time is set to it's maximum (non-MBR) setting. Sometimes I'm playing single player games with the response time set to maximum and I don't even notice. Whereas on my 27 inch/1440p Acer predator monitor, if I left the response time at maximum while player single player games, I would notice EXTREME ghosting when moving the camera around.

My first flat panel monitor was a Samsung S27A950D, and even though it was a TN monitor, the image quality was nice, and the 3D was amazing with the upgraded glasses. Having a look at the picture quality of current Samsung monitors, I can say I'm quite impressed. My last monitor was an Asus PG348Q which I regret purchasing because the screen cracked with just a little pressure during cleaning. Asus refused to back its 3yr warranty so I'm switching back to Samsung. This is the monitor I am considering. Thank you for the detailed review.

@@ollieharrison4747 Despite reservations, I actually ordered the Asus ROG PG329Q as a tryout. Asus has a specialized desk mount for their ROG monitors which doesn't require the removal of the monitor arm. I just bought this monitor about a week ago and it's great. My only complaint is that the pixels per inch is relatively low compared to a 1440p 27 inch monitor and you have to be aware of that when purchasing this. I read somewhere that this is the same pixel density as 1080p on a 24 inch monitor. When playing games at native 1440p resolution, you will notice the pixels more than on a 27 inch screen. This is really only noticable on single player games in which you're focusing on the picture a lot more and focusing on small areas of the screen for longer periods of time. This problem goes away for the most part when playing single player games at 4K. When playing faster paced mutiplayer games, the screen really shines because of the refresh rate, response time, and the pixel density is largely unnoticable because your focus is elsewhere. This also depends on how close to the screen you'll be sitting of course. I sit around 2 feet away from the screen, and maybe a little farther away when playing single player games with a controller. The farther away you sit, the harder it is to notice pixel density. I would not say that this is a deal breaker because it's just an objective fact of screens of this size. There are trade offs with everything. 32 inch screens with a 1000r curve offer unmatched levels of immersion, but you have to be aware of the tradeoffs. With this monitor in particular it seems to only be the obvious pixel desnity loss from 27 inch and THAT'S IT. So still one of the best monitors on the market, and every other 1440p 32 inch will have the same problem and potentially other problems specific to those monitors so keep that in mind.
@alexvswrld2 жыл бұрын
I don't own this Odyssey, but I do have a 32 in. 1440p monitor from LG and a 1080p 24 inch display as well....I have to say that you are pretty spot on with the pixel density. I'm not the biggest expert in displays, but they look pretty similar in that regard.

@@alexvswrld I have this Odyssey and a 27 inch 1440p predator monitor, so I have not been able to confirm the 1080p/24 inch pixel density comparison. Thanks for confirming it for me! It's really interesting how those two sizes and resolutions somewhat equal out in the end.

I dont know if im too late, but what ive seen, some people think that the 1000R curve is a bit too drastic on a 27'', so as far as i know, most people like the 32'' more, i've not seen anyone complaining about it being to large.

You arent supposed to move the display out of the box before mounting it to the stand. It says so on the box. You run the risk of bending the panel / causing stress to it etc by not doing so.

Question can I switch this to 1080p while playing shooters or is it stuck at 1440p
@iiSup3rior3 жыл бұрын
Basic principles, if you have a 4k you can choose any resolution up to 4k so since this is 1440p you can choose any up to 1440p but you won't be able to choose 4k. So yes you can go down to 1080p if you want more fps for more demanding games like battlefield warzone etc.

I really can’t decide between 2k 240hz (G7) or 4k 144hz (27GN950) what’s your opinion on this?
@cascimiro3 жыл бұрын
If you got the money for super high-end GPUs and can keep upgrading them, go for 4k 144hz. If you like competitive games and/or want to achieve higher frame rates easier, go 1440p 240hz. 4k is very heavy on GPUs still, 1440p 240fps is like 33% easier to achieve than 4k 144fps. I have a 27in G7 for about a week and I can tell going from 1080p to 1440p is a very nice resolution upgrade. 4k is not for me, as good GPUs are too expensive here in Brazil.

With the extreme curve the 27" feels to small, 32"is perfect. 4K is of course better, but you also need a GPU that can manage the higher resolution with the same amount of eye candy.

From many reviewers complaints 27 is kind of the gold standard for text in 1440p. But people have complained that the 1000R curve is terrible for 27 since it's narrower and gives the illusion that the monitor is smaller. So it's a trade of between clearer text or better, more natural curvature
