very helpful- in my case the spring goes on the right side not left. Sequence for me was Spring in small hole, post through spring into casing, "load" the spring to back of paddle, THEN insert post on opposite side of paddle. your glue comment convinced me to do this- we did exactly the same. THANKS

Thanks for the tip! I was not able to see the hole where the spring went until you pointed it out. A tip for others -- I used some food safe grease to hold the spring in place, then guided the post thru the spring/hole. Then a quick push of the spring behind the lever and we're back in business.

Thanks for this. I found it easier to guide the left side spring and pivot into their respective holes and then push the lever to the left and wedging the right side sliding it in the respective right side hole. The key is pushing it as far left as possible and slowly pop the right side in. Great video!

Wow, we bought the new paddle after trying to Gorilla Glue the broken (longer) post back on. It wouldn't hold and snapped off again when trying to reinstall it. It took both of us to get the spring on the post and into the tiny hole. It worked best for us to balance the spring on the post, get the post into the large slot then and using the flathead screwdriver to push the angled part of the spring into the tiny hole. After the spring was in the tiny hole we pushed the straight spring back to pop into the slot while trying to keep the post in the large hole and the angled part of the spring in the tiny hole. We did this BEFORE putting the second (right side post) back in. The whole time we were praying we didn't break another post because it was a tight fit. As many other said, THANK YOU, we could never have figured it out without your video.

The hole is difficult to find and the spring goes over the left tab on the dispenser paddle. Thanks to your video, it is now repaired and working great again.

Thanks Dave! Video was spot on and huge help! The little plastic piece that actuates the icemaker switch busted and I glued it back. I would never have figured out how to get the control panel out without this video.

Great info, big help! I did it a little differently, I put the spring on the post first, then used a little screwdriver to push the top part of the spring up into the little hole. Felt lucky that it took under 10 minutes!

Wow, thanks so much for taking the time to share this. I NEVER would have figured that out on my own. Didn't even know there was a spring. Turns out my wife had thrown it away when finding on the floor earlier today (happily we were able to retrieve it)! :-) Never found the broken off peg, but ordered a new paddle (part is Samsung DA66-00850A Lever-Dispenser for those of you who are trying to figure that out) and will hopefully be able to snap the whole thing back in along with the spring when it gets here in a couple days.

This helped greatly. My paddle broke right at the spring. Gorilla glue fixed it. Then this video helped me figure out the spring. Took the panel off the refrigerator which made it much easier. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred bucks on a service call. And saved on not having to buy a new paddle thanks to gorilla glue which is awesome!

Great video, pushing that spring to the back let it clip fit right in perfectly. If your lever breaks and you loose the spring, they are two separate parts to order. They don’t include it. 10.95 on Amazon for the spring.

Thank you! Paid a guy 60 dollars to figure out the lack of bounce is due to the spring. Then I used `spring+samsung water dispenser paddle` and found this video. Another 10 bucks for the part, and a bit of patience, boom!

Thank you...and of course I kept the spring, but after ordering a new paddle (because we were not as clever as you at finding plastic pieces and gluing)...the spring is now missing. So...back to the parts store for me. I will watch this again once I get the spring :)

Perfect I actually replaced the whole lever, kept the spring (and the metal cover that didn't come with the new lever...weird). This was the last piece of the puzzle!

I couldn't see the tiny hole for the spring and the spring kept moving when I inserted the left hand tab. I cut tape into tiny strips and used it to hold the spring in place in the groove for the spring found on the paddle. With the spring in the proper position, it took me a few trys to get the left side of the paddle and the spring in place. Very frustrating but kept at it.

Maybe a different model but the spring on mine went on the right sided post. There was a groove in the back of the lever for it. And the key was that the top edge of the lever had to sit back deeper into the fridge door behind another black piece.

.fingers crossed I can figure out the spring; I have the replacement part $8.00; I kept the original spring. Sounds like it might be a two person job...

I have this refrigerator: RF28HMEDBSR and the spring is on the right side. The idea is kinda the same but how did you slide the whole lever back in? The two posts on the left are hard plastic. The hole that they need to fit into are also part of a plastic piece. I have tried to use a flat screwdriver to make it give a little but no success. I keep breaking the same area! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I can't find any other videos and no one is recording the part where they have to put the lever back in. HALP!

It was not necessary for me to unscrew the sensor console. Put the spring on the left (facing you) side notch of the lever first (with the flat non protruding part of the spring aligned to the inner side of the lever)-gently nudge it into the hole on the left then align the right hand side with the hole on the right, dab some olive oil on the notch and gently push it in. Takes 5 minutes.

I think this will help me but I don’t know how the spring is to be loaded onto the left tab. does the small arm of the spring go into that small hole you were talking about. Thank you in advance

That's great, though how did you get into the dispenser to superglue it? How does the dispenser disasssemble?

I have the same problem and had to order another lever. However, I don't have the spring. Not sure what happened to it. Any chance you have a picture of what the spring looks like? Samsung has not been any help with this.

I can see how the torsion spring goes on but I can't get the top end into that hole and bottom part in the groove and then get the plastic tab in the hole. I have no idea how you got that in there while keeping the spring in place.
