Professionala in the Uk is called vocational training. It would be great if you do more basic practical repair videos on phone, tablets and laptops including replacing ports, reballing IC's and more troubleshooting tips. If we can get to 50% of where you are Sorin Im sure we'd be happy. Schools need more vocational training aspects so we can develop the next generation of highly qualified technicians which are so vital. Having a passion to learn and continuous learning is vital no matter what you do. Great stuff Sorin. Really appreciate your life story and perspectives. I too was frustrated at school, not letting me learn all the stuff I was fascinated with and making me learn things I wasn't interested in. When someone's not interested in something (history for me, back then) they are not going to learn much, and will learn very slowly. I loved science and could learn that very fast and would have been extremely knowledgeable and useful if they'd have let me just pursue that. But so it is. Glad you went on a path you loved and pursued what you loved. Your videos are great for many, many reasons. Keep up the great videos. Thanks for everything you share.

I know it is not original, but because of your videos I repaired my first laptop motherboard (first mosfet, was not difficult) SO I have to say to you thank you so much. I felt really good when I saw the leds lighting. For me personally, it would be day-to-day phone and tablet repairs because that's what I feel more confident in repairing. Great video - thanks for the continued effort and uploads.

Another great thing about your channel is sharing your creative unconventional workarounds. I really liked your video on building an air soldering iron from heating element and tubing and using your mouth for air. Really like the creative solutions and pary substitution videos.

My suggestion would be a tutorial about thoroughly understanding and reading schematic diagrams and how circuits work.

I am a break layer I was messing around with electronic as a child you now transmitter and stuff I still do.i was thinking to buy a cb radio again or building one on my own that would be nice..I like youre videos so everything what comes on youre table.

20 years ago I went to university and got a degree in electronics and communications. If I had my time over I would have done an electrical apprenticeship and moved into electronics/computers and data cabling after completing my trade certification. This career path would have made me far more capable and employable. This is the advice I give to technically-minded young people looking for career advice.

Sorin: I'm self-taught in electronics. Then took electronics in the Army. I was sent to school for 8 weeks. The main thing that my Grandfather always told my was (If you can read and understand what you are reading, YOU can do anything you want) So Like you it was off to the Library for electronic project books... Sorin I'm new here but watch all your videos...

Like you I have a vast amount of experience when it comes to a variety of electronic repairs; that include commercial and consumer products. I enjoy watching other experienced technician's share their expertise because we all learn additional skills and new approaches to solving challenging issues. I eventually became Electronics Engineer that broaden my capabilities in circuit design and modifications that included circuits that were poorly designed.

I had to pause the video and comment on what you said about school and teaching things that we don't need that's exactly what i felt at the time and i left high school too because i wanted to choose a different direction and i am learning circuit analysis and electronic from the internet simply because i love electronics and i feel comfortable learning them, if you have a passion for something that you like you will learn it, thanks for sharing your story sorin

hey Sorin! as soon as i had started trying to learn fixing some of my broken devices like a tv, power tools etc, i found your channel and so my broken devices got a lot more and difficult :) i enjoyed and appreciated your power supply project and of course i finally built it. since you are asking what people would like to see from you, i would like to understand and build a fm radio receiver or maybe try to upgrade an old stereo system by installing a tablet in it. truly though any project you manage to show, it would be awesome.

I watch you because I like your personality :) Sorin you are fun to watch repair items in the shop :) or at home or what ever you want to video :) I like your diagnosing faults but when you are a little flustered then all leads go everywhere and microscope is not on sometimes we will miss vital diagnosis :) as for you teaching me I have gone way past able to learn but I'm still watching weather your video is 5 minutes or 10 hrs I would still watch :) I will be honest and say I would like to see a lot more laptops than any other items but when your working at a shop you get them items to repair I understand that too Sorin :) love your stories a lot :) please just keep doing what you are doing more often if possible :)

Hi Sorin, regarding what type of video I would propose to you: I would very much appreciate to learn to regard a board or a schematic as a composition of aggregates(basic circuits, modules) instead of looking at a collection of discrete basic elements in a random order( just as you compared reading notes and seeing chords as an aggregate). As a beginner I see a bunch of components in a schematic or on a board and I would like to be able to see the more aggregated composition of it all. Do you have an advice for me? Your videos are excellent both from a methodical and a personal point of view. I learn with every inspection and repair you do and I enjoy your way of entertaining your community like no other channel. Hopefully you continue to share your expertise and experience. I am grateful that there are people like you in thes times.

In the US we have Vo-Tech (vocational technology) schools for learning trades and current technologies for those trades.

Lots of same memories. My interests of learning everything new forced me to buy one of those spark erosion machines some years ago. Nice compact model. Not much used from some school. That might be interesting to repair nowdays... but my luck it works. I just had to save it from destroiying. Anyway, thank You for these videos, have fixed so much more with the help of You.

This kind of repair jobs are really smart. Turn to life a laptop only with two solders is more efficient than replace the screen and the connector, and more sustenaible too.

We call it a spark eroder. My friend used to make the dies for aluminium extrusions, and the die was so hard they used a spark eroder to cut the shape of the extrusion. He said they used carbon electrodes. Another friend used it to burn out tiny broken drills stuck in metal, and he used a copper wire.

Hi Sorin, I know you like all audio (sound) related things ! it would be great if you make some videos editing and explaining how things works and what supposed to do on different boards .

You asked what useful things you could share with a beginner. I think one helpful thing is sharing soldering temperatures and time to heat for air soldering for various size parts and boards. Also based on situations, such as fast removal of a bad part or careful removal to reuse a part from a donor board. It can be easy for a beginner to damage by overheating or tear pads and tracks by removing too soon. Ant tips from you would be appreciated.

Sorin, the best school is the life school, my friend. Like me, i learn all i know with life not in school's or something like that, of course, if you have the chance to have school lesson's it's easy. i'm a electrical tecnition since 2000 and i already travel arround the world to do diferent job's.

I agree with the schooling, I found it hard to learn as a kid i didnt get it, then later in life it all started to make sense once my brain was more developed, so i started building electronic stuff and taught myself ohms law and now with your help and other help i am repairing laptop motherboards as a job, thanks Sorin :) would like to see more vids on indivdual componets and there cababilities, electronics is a bit like chess once we understand what the pieces can do then we can see the bigger picture, from Garry, New Zealand.

I think many of the beginners, hobbyist's and some others would benefit from knowing how to determine the difference from filters, resistors, capacitors are know which legs on different chips etc. to check for shorts. Maybe that would help a few and be interesting.

Sorin, I am proposing a time consuming project, organizing and recording of the segments will take time. But it will leave a distinguishing mark on laptop repairs, here on KZfaq. You remember you did a fault simulation video once which was limited in scope. What I am proposing is fault simulating from charging port to fully functional all charging circuits step-by-step. The object will be to explain the startup sequence. But please use the schematic, and Boardview. A simplified diagram, for reference purposes will be nice at the end. I know it is asking much of your time, but it will become a reference. By the way if I were close by, I would have donated a laptop to the effort. Funny thing about the laptop (Gateway) is it missing First and Second MOSFETs. They use two parallel power diodes (in parallel), and a power Zener! By the way, nice video. Good Ol’ Times. I think we have taken parallel paths >>>> Thyristors, Diacs, Triacs 😄

Hi Sorin! I'm interesting where are the signals come from first two mosfets on a laptop motherboard. I'm talk about signals on there gates. Soon I repaired a motherboard wich have a missing signal on the gate on the first mosfet. And I couldn't trace this signal on schematic. I think the signals must come from power managment chip or Super IO. Greetings for great video!

External PSU tips and tricks like those episodes where you were using the over current protection of the psu to look for shorts or reading the amperage and drawing conclusions from that or like those videos in which you were pumping amps into a device to literally "burn out" a short stuff like this opened my eyes to the capabilities of a bench psu si am mai facut si electronica, dar treburi de genul asta le vad pe youtube... mi-e si rusine

My most difficulties with electronics repairs is to find the issue without schematics. I know all the basics of circuits i check everything twice and still sometimes i just could not find the issue. In those youtube videos its looks so easy but in my real lab most of the jobs are really hard to fix.

About power supplies, to me current limiter stop the power supply above a certain current or voltage , but is the short circuit protection useful in case you touch high voltage with the power supplies probes ? I will look for that video you talk of ! thanks -

Another thing: what kind of magic you see when you read your multimeter on diode mode and you look upside and say 'ok that's a short behind the first mosfet'. Thank you for sharing everything
