Samsung was a great phone but due to geopolitical issues we in UK don't have access to so many Chinese phones. These would have destroyed the competition and would have made Samsung more fit for purpose. PS going to John Lewis, felt like being in Eastern Europe during communism I guess. Only Apple and Samsung and Google pixel. The rest of the world will have oppo and xiaomi and one plus and huawei and vivo and so much more. All Chinese phones now removed from JL in Solihull. What is happening to our country. We are letting the politics of a few politician who are subservient to America destroy our country and run it backwards.

I totally agree with you regarding the Fold 6. I have been waiting for Samsung to compete with the companies vivo, honor one plus etc but they have not. I love the new vivo but I have never purchased a phone outright from supplier just from O2. I love the look of the new Vivo fold, but I have always used Samsung devices for its software and it's ease of use. If I was to purchase for example the vivo fold if the inner screen protector starts bubbling like all foldable devices do how do you replace them? I ask because I know that you get 1 or 2 you replacements of the screen protector on the inner screen for Samsung foldable devices. I love the fact of the faster wireless charging speeds and the plug in speeds and I am not bothered about not having android auto or s pen as I never really use it however I do love using phone for gaming and for the speeds of the snapdragon 8 gen 3 processor like I have in my S24 Ultra. I always upgrade on a payment plan with a device as I can not pay for the phone outright. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but the main mobile networks have to step up and offer more choice. A lot of people (myself included) don't have £1000 - £1800 spare to buy a foldable phone so they rely on contracts, and their only options are Samsung or Google in this country. Until we start seeing Vivo, Honor et al, this Samsung mediocrity will continue.

Look, I understand your frustration with Samsung's recent decisions and their hardware shortcomings. They've been making some questionable moves, no doubt. However, writing them off entirely in favor of Chinese brands is an oversimplification of the issue. It's like comparing apples and oranges, each with its own set of pros and cons. It's true that Chinese manufacturers are pushing the boundaries of hardware innovation, consistently churning out devices with impressive specs and cutting-edge features. But there's a catch: availability and support. Many of their most exciting phones never even see a global release, and those that do often launch months later with limited support. Importing one means taking a gamble on warranty, updates, and even basic customer service. That's a risk most consumers aren't willing to take after spending those kinds of cash. My recent experience switching (or attempting to switch) back from Samsung to Xiaomi after 2 years highlighted this very issue. While the camera blew me away, the lack of certain (Some very basic) software features I'm used to was a major drawback. Simple things like having a full-screen wallpaper on the always-on display, automating tasks, or scheduling silent mode were noticeably absent. And the absence of wireless DeX, a feature I frequently used to cast movies while still using my phone, was a significant inconvenience. This brings us to Samsung's key strength: their software ecosystem. Samsung has developed a comprehensive suite of software features and services that seamlessly integrate with their hardware. DeX, for instance, while their "Modes and Routines" feature allows for automation. Their partnership with Windows is another, where you have much more functionality in the My Phone Link app than any other brand. Additionally, Samsung's ecosystem extends beyond phones, encompassing tablets, laptops, and wearables that all work together seamlessly. This cohesive ecosystem is something that most Chinese manufacturers have yet to replicate, and do so in a way that rivals Samsung's flagship-level devices (Xiaomi has no OLED tablets, for example). Furthermore, Samsung's track record of software updates and customer support is generally way more reliable than that of Chinese brands. While not perfect, Samsung tends to provide timely updates and security patches, and for WAYYY longer too. In conclusion, the choice between Samsung and Chinese brands isn't as clear-cut as you make it seem. It boils down to individual priorities and preferences. If you're a tech enthusiast who values cutting-edge hardware above all else and is willing to accept the risks associated with importing and limited support, then Chinese brands might be appealing. However, if you prioritize a seamless and superior software experience, a robust ecosystem of devices, and reliable customer support, then Samsung remains a compelling option, despite their recent missteps.

For the ring they send you a size kit to get your size right thats number 1. Now for the fold and flip phones samsung is doing what alot of companies are doing and that is ironing out the hiccups. The chinese market with their phones usually offer 2 to 3 updates and that is spotty at best. Not to mention the availability and repairability for these said chinese phones are slim. Also, in a case for pricing if people will dish the money out for said products then companies will continue to keep price hiking. When doing reviews you have to take into account not only specs but availability, repairability, customer service, carrier service, and overall OS updates and how true the update streak the manufacturer states comes to be true. People buy samsung and iphone because they just work with their respected ecosystems and are not spotty.

I understand where you're coming from, but is your information for more overseas buyers or are Americans accounted for in your thought process? Because as much as I'd like an Honor Magic V3 or the XF3 Pro, where can I trade in my ZF5 to get an Honor Magic V3 right now? Does your store have a trade in offer? In the US we got double the storage, and $1200 USD toward trading in the ZF5, so is that bad if I do want to upgrade? I'm sure you'd say just sell it....can I sell a ZF5 for $1200? GregglesTV is a real youtuber, and his opinion is just as valid as yours. He's had every Fold, so he's speaking from experience just like you are. So again I ask, is your opinion about this solely for overseas buyers?

Everything said was on point and valid. But Samsung imo provides one of the most crucial advantages that any android user is probably aware of making them the top choice when making a purchase. And thats their reliability. Being one of the oldest as well as being a universally known brand, youre assured that there will always be support for it wherever you go, if in case anything happens to your device. Parts are easier to get, places where you can have it checked out whether authorized or not are surely available for you unlike those of others. Software wise they provide and even mention updates are assured for up to 7 yrs. I'd rather have a phone, I know I can have serviced within reach, anytime Id have problems with it than risk having a device that if in a rare occasion breaks down will be hard to fix as places familiar with it would be scarce, parts hard to find or would take time to retrieve. And altho, they are not a 100% fool proof when it comes to the durability of their products, majority wise though they are known to provide devices with enough durability to last you for years. I still have and am impartial to my note 9 which i still use today just for its headphone jack and microsd capabilities. That said any buyer should also take these things into consideration when picking their purchase. Looking at samsungs track record, they seem to have adopted a "slowly but surely" mindset when it comes to innovating. Maybe to avoid mishaps like the ones theyve had before or to assure that quality devices are released. Thats said theyre still a few lightyears ahead of when compared to how apple is innovating but just like apple both are solid brands. Also a years time i believe isnt enough to make big changes without sacrificing the quality of the product. Not making an excuse for them but I think I see their point too. Good video though

I just came across your channel while looking for z6 reviews, so I don't know any history on you. Your channel must be geared towards UK and surrounding countries, as most of this would not apply to the US. You make some valid points I will give you that as I believe everything is over priced and cheaply made. If you buy a ring online, will it fit the first time? Most likely not! As far as the other vendor mentions, I live in the US and there is no way I am going to even think about buying these other brands with no type of solid support, I'm not saying that Samsung and Apple or top notch, but it would be 100x times better than these "outsiders". You talk about hardware is better, they all use the same hardware from the same manufacturing plant, they just slap a different label on them. Your opinion on the ultra design is just that, your opinion, to each their own. Everybody don't have the same taste, but you can't state your opinion as fact! Let's not even talk about the security of these other vendors, again not saying that Apple or Samsung is any better.

I hope you can get the Z6 to test it because there are some advantages the other foldables have on paper that don't play out in actual results. Battery is one of them. Honor introduced their silicone battery tech on the V which allows the phone to be slim, but it didn't perform any better than the Z's 4400mah battery in tests. Also, the Open and V have better camera hardware, but the image processing doesn't show any decisive advantage. The main benefit is the zoom.

I was considering the oneplus open but heard horror stories of bad quality control and nonexistant customer service for repair. So there is a market for the ring, at least in my opinion. Utrahuman have an app to get your size without a sizing kit. You just download the app, take a few pictures and then you have it. Yes he gets invited and sent review units, but he is always honest when he does his general review though. Anyway, the only thing Samsung is counting on (and will get away with) is the software, their brand name and availability. All the foldables you just mentioned are heaps better, but, they don't have what Samsung has in terms of what I said above. Which is a shame, if Vivo made the fold 3 pro really global (meaning in the US and all of Europe too) they'd be bringing some serious heat for that Z Fold 6.

I love the eco system and smart connectivity between them. I was holding out for the Z fold 6 but I'm sorry it's just not up to scratch so il give it a hard pass. The only thing I think your review could of said was that samsungs software is absaloutly the best out there for folding devices, obviously that's just my opinion and maybe not yours which tbf is fair enough I guess 😊

Another thing that is wild is the UK is always complaining about phones in the US market doing well such as samsung and apple yet samsung and apple are the top tier 2. Global chinese phones are not truly Global unless you go through chinese markets. What blows my mind is YOU say the chinese market is so great yet you get a phone like that here in the U.S. and then the ecosystem is spotty updates spotty, and if they should break your shit out of luck and have to pay a steep repair with almost non existent customer service for U.S. I would much rather pay for a phone that i know will get the updates, i know will work, etc vs getting something that i will be iffy about in my day to day usage.

You have to put things in perspective; phones are not only about thickness, Samsungs UI is far superior and mature compared to the native Mainland Chinese brands, build quality and compatibility, 5 plus years of updates promised, no need for workarounds and the reality of not easily being able to repair the Chinese phones here in the UK, surely this all matters. I doubt anybody in the UK is paying 1800 for the fold 6, with trade in, early preorders, and by checking your emails from them for even more discount codes that they send out, plus doing all this through an affiliate link can drop that price by over 1200 pounds. I just picked the 512gb fold 6 for 950, friends paid 1100 for theirs. Samsung is the pioneer in this field, overall there is no comparison. Nobody who is a serious photography would ever use any of these devices to take serious photos, justifying because a lens may be better, or has a better zoom is of no consequence. These are productivity devices, not cameras for in the field work. Maybe you should talk more about how actual software that would benefit from canvases on all these fold devices compare, such as excel, or note taking apps. Talking about thickness and cameras is not particularly beneficial to the people who these devices are meant for.

@Alamklin
@Alamklin Ай бұрын
@@AverageDadOfficial We all understand your points, that is after all why we enjoy watching your channel. As I said, nobody is paying the RRP on any of these foldable, whether Samsung or Chinese brands. But with discounts that make it possible to pick them up for around 1000, then it's very compelling. If you talk about using any of these foldable for the use of that big screen then of course it's down to software, why not mention that bigger is not nessarily better? Battery is measured in how long before they start to degrade over the cycles, not how big they are. Why not be honest and talk about the serious over heating issues of the Chinese brands because they are too thin and have no space for cooling solutions, why not talk about that the bigger screens will attract. gamers, but in that case all your recent reviews of the Chinese brands , especially the vivo is known to throttle the CPU. As I said, not many people I have ever met purchase Folds for taking photos, just as nobody walks around using an iPad to take pics. Also, it would be nice to mention the security concerns people have surrounding Chinese rom devices, especially the Huawei which has just been found out to have the cameras on non stop in the background even when not in use. Tech channels should talk tech, but recently you have started bashing to an extreme level with inappropriate language towards other brands. Your subscribers are not liking it, read the comments left here. If it's about tech, why not talk about the new Sony phone, best in class cameras, amazing camera software, crazy battery life and slim and light. Compare the Chinese candy bar phones you use to the latest flagship from Sony, you will be surprised. Being unbiased and sharing real numbers and facts across all the brands would develop and mature your channel to a more tech minded community. Looking forward to your next upload.

I agree with your assessment. However, unfortunately, I get an itch for a new phone at least once a year. I was dead set to get an One Plus Open December last year, but was able to purchase the Samsung Fold 5 $700 below the OP. Furthermore, because I constantly switch devices, there are either no trade-in options for Chinese phones or it is well below anything else and I can't be bothered selling my phones and go through the low ball offer pain. Currently, trade in at samsung is terrible here in Australia. But some places offer a $700 boost when trading in for a Fold 6. I am not saying it's worth it. All I am highlighting is for someone like me, when you look at what you can get back for your old device through trade-in, it reduces my options to Samsung, Apple, and a lesser degree Pixel phones. If you plan to keep a phone 2 to years. I think it becomes more worth it to go for Chinese phones. I would love that Vivo. I also would love Xiaomi Ultra with the Leica optics. But they are not easily obtainable, and if I can get them, I don't know what I will get for them after 6 months to a year when I inevitably get tired of them.

I'd see the appeal if the Galaxy Ring was cheaper than the Galaxy Watch 7. Plus not everyone wants a brick on their wrist 24/7 that needs constant charging. This lasts about a week. Plus they send you a sizing kit first to get it right. The Magic V Flip's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is much cheaper than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Z Flip 6. 6:14 Or the Honor Magic V3. 7:35 And it's smaller than the Z Fold 2. 7:52 The ultrawide slightly changed, but really, it's the same old, same old from the Z Fold 4. 9:08 To be fair, the Pixel Fold is also 12.1mm thick but doesn't look that thick. Maybe it's just the boxy form factor of the Z Fold 6. 10:54 The prices should be going down (that's what the competition is doing), but Samsung is pulling an Apple move and increasing the price. Please stop, Samsung! 11:45 Is that not towards a Z Flip 6 and not a Z Fold 6? 11:57 You give away your S24 Ultra and then pay the S24 Ultra price for a phone with regular S24 features. 12:40 All of the big tech channels don't curse, so they won't make that kind of thumbnail. 13:02 Blame embargoes for that. You buy a Z Fold for the software, not the hardware. What about the new Galaxy Buds3 series?

Out of all the products they announced, the Ring didn't deserve that much hate from you. It's purpose isn't to tell the time or notifications, it's a product for your health. I can see people who appreciate standard watches but would love a device for the fitness features wearing this. I know many colleagues who don't like smartwatches for this many reason, they love traditional, expensive watches. And the size argument is fairly weak considering they give you a free Sizing kit to use before receiving your Ring. Otherwise, the rest of the products have been shambolic to say the least so you're right on that front.

Totally agree (with OP). Smart rings are not meant to be smart watches; it's literally in the name. I've had smart watches for nearly a decade, and while they are more functional for general purposes, the minimalist approach of a ring is simply more comfortable and convenient for me (for tracking sleep, steps, etc...) to the point I rarely wear a smart watch anymore. Having said that, I'm highly considering a switch from Oura to Samsung, given the annoying subscription model Oura now has.

Mostly agree and refreshing to hear reviews like this - flip I really like, fold way too thick, ring odd, jury out on watches until I see them in person as battery and heath sensors sound really good. We should remember great software and ease of repair though (where would I get a Chinese fold repaired quickly and updates slow?) - If money was tight not sure someone would pay over £1k for any type of phone so is that too relevant as most technos tend to choose the tech then worry about the price (unless that’s just me 😂)

@@AverageDadOfficial I have purchased the Oura ring online using the same method and it fits perfect. I will be defenelty try the new Samsung Ring as it fits nicely in my ecosystem. I think you are a bit prejudice arround Samsung devices as a whole (i get the mindset of your channel focused on chinese ROM devices , however you are using the new Samsung line-up to get views). I dont disagree with most of your videos, however the SW optimisation + customisation of any Samsung devices (especialy foldables) is way ahead of any competition. Yes most of the chinese devices have better HW - i give you that, but the software experience is mediocre. I owned both the Honor Magic V2 & Oneplus Open over the past 8 months and i can definitely say they are not close to the Samsung experience (so many bugs and instability). Simple example (as we are using Android & not the Apples), having the same setup in both inside/outsize screen is ridiculous in 2024. The Samsung skin has so many options to tweak the OS , from icon packs taking advantage of material you colours, to the whole suite called Good Lock to i am sure you are aware off. Again my personal experience. Also many incompatibilities with tasker & tasker settings throughout (weird popup, etc). I am not a Samsung Fan & i can clearly see the fold devices missing a lot of the 2024 HW features, like a bigger outside screen, a larger battery, proper fast charge and better cameras. I wonder, if Samsung one day gets all 4 in par with the Chinese models, what would be your verdict? Now, If you own a samsung device, you can easely get the new fold6s for less than £900 for whatever is worth. Android Auto is a deal breaker for many (including myself) - waiting to hear any updates to the chinese devices in the future.

i can understand the negativity towards the fold 6. however, as a fold 3 owner (with a fold 4 off ebay that will be getting traded in) many of these other brands dont really feel like an option. im in the US, so many of these phones simply arent easily available in the first place. if they are, even if i trade in the fold 4 i wouldnt get more than 300 off, thus still making them more expensive than what im paying for the 6. its been a while, ive had to replace my own outer screen on the 3 and i can tell the inner is going so i need something new, thats one of the big reasons im upgrading. maybe i really am stupid but personally, i feel like the deal i got was worthwhile. besides, im a simple girl, i see pink, i want lmaoo otherwise, absolutely agree with everything, i wish there was more innovation from them with the folding phones but hey, at least i can afford em ^^

But i see the main points drawing in Samsung Fold 6 buyers is easy availability on installment plans from US carriers, massive trade in deals (I have a Samsung Fold 4 and they're offering $1000 trade-in), and ease of repairs with local service centers. Ive had to get a warrantee replacement Samsung about once a year, so importing a phone I do have to consider if I can have insurance on the phone and do warrantee repairs/replacements. Also I can't get the nice trade in value unless I go for a phone from a USA carrier or Samsung themselves. But yea fuck Samsung. Waiting for more phones to be offered here.
