Petition for a class action suit!

How do we start a class action lawsuit became I am so pissed. I owned this phone for ONE MONTH and the same exact thing happened to me. I wanted to give Samsung/Android a try after owning an iphone since 2011 and this happens. How can they sell a phone that cost over 1k and it breaks this easily, this is a scam!

Yup, same exact scenario happened to mine last night. 18" fall, with a VRS full hinge cover style case very similar to yours. Hinge is broken on the same side, everything exactly the same. Ive had mine since august traded in a 5 year old Note 8 that was put through the ringer and it was in excellent condition only traded cause I knew that battery was probably end of life. The amount of impact to break the hinge is extremely low, so to me their is no case that can protect this phone unless someone comes out with one that binds both half's together creating a solid chunk so one half can't leverage against the hinge pivot.

This is EXACTLY what happened to mine after 4days of having it. First drop, not a big fall. Had a case on. Didn't go under warranty, cus it fell. It's being fixed now (mind you, I have to pay 660€) and honestly I'm just bummed. Good thing I have insurance. I KNOW I will drop my phone again at some point in the future and what if this happens again? Maybe we are the unlucky ones, I dont know. Big oof.

Same happened to my Flip 4, literally about 20 mins ago!!! With a UB Pro case, slid off the sink counter, about 3' to the linoleum tiled floor. Have had it about 1.5 months, no drops. Now gotta figure out what to do, or even if I want to keep this beautiful phone!

this same thing happened to me this morning; ive had the phone for about 10 days. i just want to point out that you can see that one half of the phone is lifted off the hinge when closed; the same thing happened to me. i had a hard plastic case on with hinge protection. i have a ghostek case on the way that will hopefully provide better drop protection, but I'm probably gonna end up buying a cheapy replacement after I run the Samsung Care insurance out (which, after essentially breaking from one small drop, I expect I will run through the 3 allotted replacements per year). I actually watched this video before buying mine but I thought/hoped yours was a fluke 😭

I use spigen tough armor case, first drop in 14days after having the flip 4, have similar case like you but mine hinge popped up a little bit.

I found the problem. I think this problem has moved to flip 4 .Had to break the screen on my flip3. The problem is in the anthers. Inside the hinges there are laces / ropes that collect dust and protect against dust falling into the mechanisms. When your phone falls, this lace falls out of the seat.I think this is the same problem for all Samsung foldable phones

I just got off the phone with Samsung hoping they could offer an alternative or even a discount on the purchase of a new device. They were absolutely no help and said that the minute the phone fell, the warranty was void. So this is something to consider; I wonder if a class-action lawsuit for the horrible design of this phone might hurt them where it counts?

I am shocked, I don't even remember dropping mine....the hinge on one side is out! I am super shocked, I have messaged Samsung and they will pick it. I only started using it a few days ago. Ridiculous

The same thing happened to me, I called Samsung to complain. There's clearly a design flaw. I mean a device designed to be on your person several hours a day, should've been designed in a way to withstand a 50cm fall... They claimed that there's nothing wrong with the design and that I clearly abused the phone. First fall, 5 weeks ownership. Now I have to waste another €550 on this thing.

Happened to me three times now costs me 99 each time. The flip 3 was built better where as the flip 4 was built to be able to go at different angles better. I dropped mine like 2 feet with a rugged protected case and it keeps happening

Just happened to me not even a hour ago, mine is probably a bit more slanted and will only open about 45 or so degrees

This happened to me in agust after receiving the phone on the release date maybe 3 days later after transferring all my things from my iPhone 13 into the flip 4 it fell and the screen started to separate I had a hinge protection case on it. It first had pixel lines and then the screen bubbled on me it separated completely. I since then got a new one through insurance because I refused to mail it in first then wait on a new one. So I paid the 100 deductible and just got one overnight. The phone is the worst decision I ever made because I can't drop it or else so I'm constantly nervous when using it at work. I have the same case and there's really nothing better on the market for full protection but even that doesn't help. I am going to a Samsung event tonight in NYC to see if there's another phone coming out soon. I'm not allowed to upgrade because nothing has come out since this phone released. I love the concept and it's a dope phone. The camera sucks on Zoom but great pictures up close. Videos are horrible when zooming. I can't wait until something new comes out and I can get rid of this phone

had the phone for a month, was in the exact same case as yours. just dropped it 30mins ago and its not looking good as far as repair goes

I dropped mines and it would not open, then it got a black line across the crease. Luckily I had, had insurance so it's covered. My carrier is t-mobile and when I bought it in they were not shocked as the first thing she said when I told her what happened was "we got another one" the girl the checked me out coming over and saying "really that's the 3rd/4th one today." These phones are not ment to be dropped, which really sucks cause its a cool idea once I pay mines off i think im gonna switch to the s22 ultra

I'm not kidding, probably on my 7th or 8th now as of this morning, barely even dropped it, had a $100 protective case with hinge protector and STILL instantly the lines came up and it bled from the hinge

mine broke to but a lot worse condition the schreen broke the hinge did not work schreen lifted and more

This is exactly what happened to me. However my hinge was already loose before I dropped it. So I think there might have been something wrong before.

It doesn't matter how it lands or if it's in a case. Your phone can belly flop right on the front and the hinge will pop. It'll be on the left side and will result in only opening it between 75 and 100 degrees before feeling resistance as your screen starts to flex the wrong way. If you firmly guide it you can get it to smoothly open with a couple of pops into place. At this point it'll close but be hard to open and the more times you open you'll develop screen issues over where the screen creases.

this just happened to me. i just pushed the two halves of the phone and slowly opened and it did! the only problem is, i dont think this is a folding phone anymore 😀

Im using my wifes replacement Flip 4 because she just had her original one replaced. Her hing broke too after one drop and she was so mad she didnt even want the replacement one. So no swapped my sim into it to give the new one a try. If i dont like it ill trade it in. Hers mad it 6 months though thankfully.

This has happened to me twice now with 2 Z Flip 4s

That's exactly the same side where my hinge got out of alignment. It fell from the bathroom counter onto a rug with a case but without any hinge protection. I was able to force it open and keep it open to use phone until replacement came in. I guess if it happens again to me I will know the screen will still work if force opened

the same thing happens to me taking the keys out of the pocket at the door. the phone was inside the transparent Samsung case. I regret it. pity. if we are afraid to pick up the phone and pay €1100.....what can I say

So far I have had two of these phones do this to me on the exact same side. Thanks leave Verizon has replaced the phone for free both times but I have not even had this phone for 6 months

Same, phone is 3 months old, in a super protective case. Didnt even drop it, it just never opened up again, 700€ to fix it.... Never again will i buy a samsung

Mine broke on first drop as well and samsung didn’t want to wave the fee telling me i am the problem Dont have the budget currently to fit is so they are sending it back If it not in warranty i still think this is a quality issue

The same thing happened to me when I dropped it at work! Luckily they repaired it under warranty even though I have Samsung Care on the device, and they fixed it within 3 days!

Wow! I am reading through these comments. This is the worst design ever! I bought mine in October 2022. I have already dropped the first one and sent it to get repaired. I just dropped it again last week. Like the others here, I have a Samsung Galaxy that I also put through the wringer and it's still running. I am actually using it instead of this new one. Can we not all complain to Samsung about this? The concept is great but the weak design is just horrible and they are not cheap!!! As for deductibles, I have a$300 deductible and am still on a payment plan for this phone! I am going to call Samsun as well and complain.

New gearless hinge is a joke! Thats why it feels like a pocket knive to open. Way too hard "breaking point"(the point at which enough force is applied to start folding process) which is the result of increased friction within the new hinge. Much unlike the old Flip 3 hinge, which provides smooth operation and easy one handed opening. (even with the pinkie) Samsungs decision to cheap out on the new hinge design rly grinds my gears.

Heading to Verizon store tomorrow to get this replaced.

just drop it a couple more times on the hinge in hopes it might knock it back in place 🤣🤌 i do stuff like tht and oftentimes it works flawlessly but i have good luck 🤣
