When I was about 19, I moved from Michigan to Seattle with my then-boyfriend. A co-worker of his invited us to dinner and the co-worker's wife was Filipina, and she made spaghetti for us. I remember being surprised by the hot dogs and ketchup but it was really good! Almost 30 years later i find outI it wasn't just her crazy recipe but a legit cultural meal!

No one too poor to use ketchup for Spaghetti in the Philippines. They only do that in the US to present something supposedly cultural to gullible Americans who are in constant search of what they dont have, culture. There so many CHEAP italian style spaghetti sauce in Philippines, so no one will put some banana sauce on their Spaghetti, which some people can only afford to cook on their bdays.

I just made this for the first time tonight. I did the half recipe as it was just my wife and I. This was delicious! I used regular hot dogs as I could not find the red ones. For that banana sauce, I was surprised to find it at Walmart. It was over in the Asian food section. It was $0.85. We had the spaghetti, garlic bread and a side salad. An inexpensive meal, simple to do and tasted great. Thanks Sam!!!

Used to work some young Filipino ladies. Always bringing us food from home, always fantastic. Lumpia and pancit were probably my two favorites though everything (except the balut) was amazing. Going to their website, I find that Jollibee has a restaurant about 1/2 from me, here in NJ! I'll be visiting them someday. Their chicken looks great, and the chicken sandwiches look even better! Pineapple? Aw HELL yeah!

Love this! I'm Filipino, BTW. The urban Filipino (born, raised and educated in Metro Manila or any major city, especially the more affluent ones) might pronounce "spaghetti" the same way a native English speaker would. It's commonly pronounced "is'pageti" (tip: open your mouth) by those who don't normally converse in English and it usually comes with a regional accent. Say, "pride cheeken" (again, open your mouth).

Another alternative would be using condensed milk instead of brown sugar as the sweetener. It would match the light orange color of Jollibee spaghetti instead of a bright red one. I'm digging that clear pasta pot by the way.

In the PH, we have a lot of versions of spaghetti. I like to replace the ground beef with corned beef. Sometimes we use ground pork. Others put all-purpose cream or condensed milk to make it a lighter red sauce. Kids will always compare it to Jollibee spaghetti. LOL

As good as the recipe sounds, you kept reminding me of a bit Buddy Hackett did on the Tonight Show about Leo the Filipino.

If it wasn’t for this channel, I don’t know how I’d learn what the rest of people eat and how to make a close version to it.

As a Native American, I too love Jollibee. I'm glad there is a couple here in the Dallas Area. I'm on the Fort Worth side, but it's worth the 40 minute drive. Thanks for the video.

As a Filipino who lived and tasted Jollibees in the Middle East and Philippines, the one in Plano reminded me of the taste of Jollibee back in the '90s in the Philippines.

Never expected to see a Filipino/Jollibee spaqghetti recipe on this channel when I subbed but as a Fil-Am - I am floored that it turned out as nice at it did. Grew up eating hotsilog and using banana ketchup, so this was a trip.
