shizukagozen777 They should ask permission before roasting, using, or doing ANYTHING with artwork. Some of these artworks are by VERY young people who dont know better. Some of them are not supposed to be known by the actors and it could really cause some trouble. I know this from an art perspective. The internet makes you seem anonymous and you think “oh, my friends will see it”, then it somehow gets on the google page and then this happens... i really hope they got artist permission

I can't imagine what it would be like to have NSWF art drawn of you. It would be quite the... experience. But at the same time but someone had to put time and effort into the piece.

It's kinda what they do on Graham Norton. Like, a lot. The guests are usually embarrassed even though it isn't the subject of the show. Anyway, yeah, there's brilliant fan art out there. And I'm sure many have been amazed and flattered by it.

I think you're selling that piece a bit short. Yes, it was lewd and provocative for a laugh but it also shows quite a bit of artistic talent.

As a RL friend of the artist she put alot of work into the piece .. not my cup of tea either really but she is a fantastic artist. And has many many great pieces of work.. obviously the show picked a good one that would get the best reaction from the audience and Tom.

yes but that kind of defeats the point i was trying to make - that every time they show fan art on tv, they always choose the sexual image because they think it's funny to ridicule fandom. i absolutely think the sexual fan art has a place in fandom and i'm not saying that sexual fan art is bad, what I mean is that when it's shown on TV it's always with the intention of making fun of it, and by proxy, fan art and fandom in general. I'd prefer if they chose pieces which show a broader definition of what fandom is, rather than the implied 'rabid fangirls' that this does.

He's a grown man and has been in plenty of sex scenes in his movies so I'm sure he's not well-versed in the sex department. I would be freaked out if they were making highly-sexualized fan art of me as a person but if it was art of one of the characters I played, I'd find it highly amusing. And I can see how it could be quite awkward but again, just laugh it off and move on. Tbh I think it's more of a cultural thing. I've noticed that some people from the UK, specifically around the London area, find it difficult to have normal conversations about sex or talk about sexuality. Not saying everyone is like this, it's just an observation. Some cultures are more open to it while others are a bit prude.

Sometimes when I see these interviews when they talk about fan fiction or fan art, the actors don't particularly seem pleased, or they answer it to be nice but they're uncomfortable. So I usually think those questions should be left out of interviews or panels.

That's rather creepy. We don't know these actors (or whoever the fans are using) and they're not a piece of art you can take and expand. I already felt bad when I found the 'Lokis monster crotch' or something blog. Because there are very real life pictures of Tom, not some drawings of Loki.
