Samuel Pepys lived during one of the most turbulent times in English history. He left us a detailed account of life in the 17th century London in his famous diary, which he kept for nine years. Through sheer determination and desire to succeed, he advanced his career to become the most successful naval administrator of the Royal Fleet during the reign of Charles II.

I like all the diary's realistic details, like when he mentions teaching his wife arithmetic. (Few girls were educated back then.) Pepys also wrote a history of the English Navy. Now that I think of it, there's a parallel between the Stuarts (Charles I executed, Charles II restored, James II deposed) and the Bourbons (Louis XVI executed, Louis XVIII restored, Charles X deposed).

It's a joy to read the diary of S. Pepys. On a separate note ... King Louis XVI could not stop reading about the way Charles I died. The French king knew his life would end the same way. Thank you for watching.

In the nine years that his diary covers, he had relationships with nine woman who were not his wife. I think you should have covered that topic, to balance out your report.

He was a highly corrupted individual and was a kloset kabalist. Shmuelpy pies had his hand in the great pie of state and there are many like him this day. When i look at him i see the likes of boris johnson looking back at me.
