Samurai Ambushed by ALIEN Xenomorph (DIY Diorama)

In this miniature diorama video, I wanted to combine Japanese Samurai culture with that of the Xenomorphs from Alien. What would happen if they met face to face? This diorama features my own designs for laser cut, fdm printed and resin printed models. A successful resin epoxy art pour for the water feature, and lots and lots of miniature vegetation.
All the colors blend together very nicely to the end result. I wanted the end glamor shots to resemble a night scene, with the light coming from inside the building, and moonlight illuminating the roof and the alien on top barely visible. Really happy with how the paper walls turned out, they let a lot of light diffuse through!

It is a bit reminiscent of a certain other diorama isn't it? You should get back at him and do a Dune themed diorama... maybe one up Knarbs 40k cathedral? When he starts doing scifi cowboys you know he's up to something: ) Now if Knarb had the samurai stalking the xeno instead.. Cool stuff Knarb. And running into Boylei here is cool. Probably my two favorite modelling nerds hanging out at the same virtual place is kinda neat (somehow, I guess?)

I have thought about this, a lot, for various reasons and there are several periods I would love to do. My top would have to be Zulu warriors or Vikings defending against Xenos.

@@NuggetsDePollo i kinda half agree... but the tactics for fighting them are completely different. The Alien is hunting you, the xeno doesn't care. If it can't breed with you, it wants to kill you. Still, your idea WOULD make an awesome scene.

Awesome build! Great details and I love how vibrant the colors are, really gives the feeling of Japan long ago. Adding the light in the building was a perfect final touch!

I really like the sound effects on The Last Samurai footage : ) Sweet laser cutter! I need one of those! Nice job bending the roof tiles and the landscape is sick. This whole project came out GREAT Knarb. Excellent work!

Beautiful! Just one tidbit. Tatami is never used outside. The porch should have been made with planks like the bridge. Over in Nijo Castle these planks have metal pins in them that clink when someone.....or would be assassin walks in them.

there's a short story about an Yautja hunting in Japan around the 1460th. there's also a very good story about the android Bishop from the Alien _both stories are from book "Aliens: Bug Hunt".The one about Bishop's origin is a short story named "Broken" by Rachel Caine_

I have thought about this mashup myself a few times. How would previous era humanity survive against Xeno infestation or Predator hunting trip? I think, if you take the Samurai culture that we know from the movies, as in highly mythicized and exaggerated, I can see them surviving the Xenos. The end lighting you set up really makes this pop, it gives the same feel as the earlier Aliens films with that dread/suspense.

@@solid_jr Glad I am not the only one. In another comment, I mentioned Vikings and Zulu warriors. Disney is fighting with the copyright of Aliens and Predator franchises now, but to help "keep" the Predator copyright they leaked info about a Native American predator movie. As if that will allow them to keep the copyright.

Cool build. The xenomorph above and behind the samurai was a nice touch. Can't wait for sequel, where the ninja is above and beyond the xenomorph. You know it must be done.
