Those replacements are not cheap. Learning to sharpen is priceless

Learning how to sharpen Japanese "pull" saws accurately & effectively is a whole 'nother ball game. I consider myself reasonably proficient in sharpening carpentry & cabinetmaking "push" saws (Western pattern), but I had to unlearn & relearn angles, rakes, & fleams (look it up) to get the tall teeth on Japanese saws (garden & woodwork) to cut right. But when they do, it's much less work than with a "push" saw. Not saying that I'm going to sell all my old Disston, Tyzack & Spear & Jackson saws, but I'm ditching crappy pruning saws forever. Or buying a mini-chainsaw.

Hey, you hit 50k subs, where's the party?

If you really want a "Wake Up" then try the Samurai Ichiban or Kisi saw. They are AS GOOD as Silky, but 1/3 the cost.

I have a old sharpener like the fishing hook sharpener but it is groved on one side. I always sharpen my treble hooks on my lures. Im shocked at how dull most of them are. If i can pull it across my finger nail without it biting in then it needs a touch up. I probably need to look into that sharpener. My trim pull saw is pretty dull actually, I have never attempted to sharpen it. Thanks for another great video brother.

I carry the EZ-E-LAP at work to sharpen my utility knife blade, and it's great. I have never once had mine turn green. I'm guessing you keep yours in a leather belt pouch ? Mine came with a weird vinyl fabric type pouch, but it's carried in my leatherman acessory pocket sheath.

You think the diamond sharpener would work on induction hardened saw teeth?

I want to know too.

They do, that's what they're designed for. Also, diamonds are the hardest thing on earth, there isn't anything they cant cut.

@@autumn5592 I thought boron nitride, lonsdaleite And a few others were harder .
@autumn55926 ай бұрын
@@Dmarkus_greene Cubic Boron Nitride is softer, but it does have some advantages over diamond (keeps material cooler when grinding, and remains very agressive when removing material.) It is almost as hard as diamond, it will easily abrade any steel. Londsdaleite IS harder, but there is not enough of it to be used. It's rare, and isn't able to be produced by man. So it's not really anything to consider. There is nothing else harder (that I know of.)
