I love it when people attempt to generalize an event like you just did. It wasn’t just typhoons. They got handled by the Japanese. The Japanese navy was superior and was well utilized. The typhoons helped them as well. Japanese defensive positions held while outnumbered. Although heavy casualties on both sides again not just typhoons.

@@stacey_1111rh Not entirely true either. The Japanese navy wasn’t superior to the mongols, their close quarter fighting was. During the second invasion, the Japanese sent boarding parties at night on smaller boats, to attack the mongols, the samurai would cut down as many mongols and then escape into the night. This didn’t do that much in the grand scheme of things as again the mongols numbered over 100,000 men. During the 1st invasion, the mongols actually landed on Japanese soil, and had a list of battles and skirmishes with the Japanese now bunched together and named “the Battle of Bun’ei”, eventually the Japanese managed to deal a slight blow to the Mongols (though at a heavy cost) and so the mongols realised that they weren’t prepared for an invasion like this and they decided to return to Korea, but en route they got hit by a typhoon and suffered heavy casualties. The first invasion was basically a massive scouting party, the second invasion was the actual attempt. The mongols were told by the Chinese and Koreans that the Japanese were rich but uncivilised (and this made sense to the mongols considering the fact that all the mongols had seen of the Japanese were the Wako pirates that attacked the shores of Korea) they were not expecting a legitimate warrior class, so they knew they weren’t prepared and retreated. For the second invasion, the Japanese had actually prepared for it, they knew the only place the mongols could land was Hakata bay, remember, they had done so in the first invasion. So the Shikken (Regent of The Shogun, basically de facto shogun) Hojo Tokimune ordered the construction of a wall that stretched throughout the northern shores of Kyushu, but especially Hakata Bay. Eventually the mongols arrived and attempted to overwhelm the Japanese, but were unsuccessful. The mongols did capture the islands of Shikanoshima, Nokonoshima, and Genkai in the Bay Area and set up camps on them. After capturing these islands, they were actually in position to attempt a full blitzkrieg-esk flanking attack on the Japanese ( though I personally don’t think it would’ve worked) though luckily, the Japanese had held out for long enough as the Typhoon came and wrecked the mongol fleet. The remaining survivors, such as those encamped on the mentioned islands were captured, imprisoned and then killed (with the exception of the southern Chinese who were recently enslaved by the mongols). Kublai Khan did construct a 3rd larger invasion fleet, but this fleet was used for the invasion of south east Asia instead. And therefore the mongol invasions of Japan ended.

Before a battle the leaders of samurai armies would meet first to exchange dialogue. Obvious the mongols had no intention of honouring that tradition and kill Adachi as a “fuck you” to the samurai.

Mongols at one point was the most powerful empire on the planet. If Genghis Khan hadn't died suddenly his general Subutai, would have conquered half of Europe. They began their campaign in Eastern Europe and was winning battles after battles progressing inside when Genghis died and Subutai returned to Mongolia to attend the funeral. Mongolian empire was the largest empire in history in terms of area size. It's crazy that once such a powerful nation is so non- powerful, non-threatening these days.

All the comments here coping saying that Mongol were weak. Bro mongols were far superior in both technology and military warfare than any empires on that period of time (be it Europe or Mughals) and mongols invade japan for two times and that two times japan was blessed by ocean herself. If mongols were really unleash their full superiority they would wipe out japan not cause ONLY from their higher military but also flaw factors of japan themselves such as many seperated rulers or interior problems.

There was no Moghul at that time, Dehli Sultanate used to be there at that time and they managed to defeat Mongols. Fun fact Moghul were descendants of Mongols who reverted to Islam.

During the first expedition, the Mongolian army landed on Kyushu, but after a brave fight, the Japanese army drove them out to sea and retreated. The storm occurred during the retreat and did not affect the outcome of the battle. During the second expedition, the Japanese army struggled as the Mongolian army led many more soldiers than the first time, but the Mongolian army had been having trouble landing in Japan due to their countermeasures and brave fighting, and just as they were anchoring and preparing to move, another storm struck. It is important to note that the Mongolian army was not defeated because of the storm and could do nothing, but rather, despite the fact that both sides suffered heavy damage and many deaths, the Japanese fought bravely and drove the Mongolian army out to sea from the land, and the storm destroyed the Mongolian fleet.

In one invasion, they landed on Tsushima for three weeks and engaged in combat with about 80 soldiers. The typhoon came one month after they landed in Hakata, so Tsushima was not involved. The same happened in the second invasion, where a typhoon occurred three months after they landed on Tsushima. Tsushima never benefited from the typhoon.

This was such a legendary game. I have it on the ps4 and I could play this again a few more times. Great story, great voice acting. It’s just an iconic game. unfortunately in real life, the mongols did make it to this small island of Tsushima and killed the entire population. They used this island as a port for thier mainland invasion. The kamikaze storms did not protect the Japanese people of this island, but it does offer up an AMAZING story of the people who probably resisted, even if they had to resort to guerrilla tactics.

@@dominusdone5023 The Mongol Empire absolutely would conquer Japan within a few months had the Hurricane not destroyed their fleet. That's not to discredit the Japanese, they were fierce warriors for sure, but you compare a tiny island country to an Empire that Spanned (In modern day terms) Germany, to Israel, to Taiwan and Korea. I won't dive too deep into the atrocities and devastation the Mongols committed, and how truly dominant they were and their role in the destruction of many empires, (because you are too young, judging by your Roblox content) but just know real world history isn't a game. The Samurai aren't some super soldier ninjas, and the Mongols aren't enemy NPCs aimlessly walking around for the main character to defeat.

The mongolian was never going to achieve anything in japan they got beaten badly the first time and flead they lied and told their leader that they got hit with a typhoon when it was not even a typhoon season, they came the second time and had to retreat to smaller islands that were ungaurded and when they south fleet came they got an ass kicking too and had no choice to retreat but this time it was indeed typhoon season 😂
