I train iaido and I can say that the beginning is similar to the 5th form of Inyoshintai from muso shinden ryu. Then there are cuts from different forms mixed with other cuts and movements.

At 3:11, even though most people think of it as funny, it is fantastic. According to lore, most cuts have no effect until Yamato is re-sheathed. You can see at 2:35 that he puts it back in on every single cut.

@@chunkyl2719 You can find it in the DMC wiki. I mean, it's pretty much logical - Yamato cuts through fabric of space and time, plus even the most iconic move (judgement cut end) applies after Vergil puts it back in the sheathe.
