Showing the ever changing relationship of powerful men, including Mondonosuke who takes a difficult journey chasing his strong enemy, this period drama will entertain you by a sparkling competition between actors with great skills. Ken Matsudaira's theatrical performance is excellent, showing what a first-class swordsman is. Also noteworthy is Kunihiko Mitamura's first collaboration with Ken Matsudaira and first role as a villain in period drama. The dynamic swordsmanship of Ken Matsudaira, which shines in his one-on-one combat with other devilish swordsmen, is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
It is the reign of Tokugawa Yoshimune (1716-1745), the 8th Shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. Mondonosuke (Matsudaira Ken), a young retired Jikisan-Hatamoto (close samurai in service of Shogun), learns from Yoshimune who saved him from a crisis on his ""warrior training"" trip, of the assassination of Iwashiro Yasutaka, the lord of the Kameda domain. Mondonosuke realizes that Omine-no-Zenki (Kunihiko Mitamura), who was his apprentice brother, is responsible for the assassination. However, Zenki was supposed to have been put to death five years ago. In order to defeat Zenki who is now on the loose, Mondonosuke sets out on a journey......

I always love watching the Samurai fight scenes especially the gore & bloody one like in Zatoichi & Lone wolf and Cub. 15:09 makes me think this series will have a lot of good fight scenes. It would be nice if I don't have to wait once a week for new episodes of this series. 😂 Thankful for this channel's existence.

One thing I've always wondered about these Samurai movies. While I'm sure all the outfits and weapons are somewhat period accurate. But are the horses also accurate? Those look like modern sports breed. I've always assumed the horse in medieval Japan were smaller and more distinctive, much like the Mongolian ponies. But I could be wrong.

Humans were smaller and lighter back then too. It would look odd for a modern actor to be riding a pony, with his feet nearly dragging the ground, and the pony looking like it's a bit put out. The pony be like "Get off me" and then stand there. Nobody would be racing them.
