Hey everyone! Second day with Mojave. Introducing the leadrope lightly! Love that he picked up the progress from the prior day pretty fast.
In this 25 minute session, I was able to get the rope on the first time. I was able to start approaching him faster to pet his nose. More sensitization and desensitization to the stick and string occurred as well!
There was more movement in this session BUT I feel like he had a great breakthrough.

Thank you for showing us all the steps you go through, what you're looking for, what you reward with pressure release, what you push through. This is so helpful to see like this.

Good job. He's far more level headed than I feared at the start. Being this mature also helps him figure things out faster than a younger one.

Thank you for these learning opportunities here and your classes.. I haven't signed up for any of the online classes but I'm planning to sign up for one of the virtual classes where folks get to ask for certain teachings, and observe and learn from that platform. The hurricane prep kept me from yesterday's. Have a great night, Laural

you are definitely on the right track with the swinging motion, I am betting he has been roped, and in a bad experience way of being roped. He sure is a handsome fella. It is probably a good thing to have a confident scaredy cat, lol. I bet he will be a great horse in time with solid training. Too bad you can't keep going with him. It would be cool to watch his progress.

That sweet little brownie is trying very hard to figure out the right answers. What this horse is having to go thru is why the best thing you can do for any horse you own is to educate them.

Feral is from domestic lines like a feral cat is a cat that’s lineage is from pet cats. Wild is like a puma they have never been “pets” or domesticated. So wild horse have lineage you can date back to conquistador times where as feral horses come from escaped pets.

Have you ever worked with a wild horse that was not haltered at first? If so, is a chute the only way to get a halter on at first?

Very nice video! I want to learn how to train wild horse. I am from central Asia, Kazakhstan. I have 60 horse, separated into 6 heard. But traditionally, we are train in 1,5 year old. And we don't do like this in a pen. We just catch them from herd and ride them. Like radoe :( But , i don't like this method, your method better, horse become your friend, not like our horse, that every time to run way when see you ))

Wonder that they would bother with surgery after that many years. Likely sterile, anyway. May have reabsorbed testicals actually. If he's sterile why not keep him a stallion to tease the broodmares or just to have more muscles as a riding horse. Well, maybe. Just a thought.

I figured they would geld all the stallions (?)
@OWK000
@OWK000 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidtivnan6668 Then there would never be any new horses! Lippanzan dressage horses have traditionally been kept as riding stallions for instance. Cryporchids are USUALLY, but not necessarilly sterile, as having testicals up in the body keeps them too warm to have viable semen. This guy is apparently some kind of range bred horse. Sam actually said he was not a mustang.

Unsubbed from Rick and subbed to you. I like your techniques and I like his approach to horses, but I'm so over his bullying tactics. He can give information with tact if he wants to reach more people.
