I feel sorry for those poor employees who've worked there for decades. That was really special of La Fogata to offer jobs. Such a loss really from many perspectives. I really liked Jacala's puffy tacos and their red salsa. They were uncommon and old school Tex-Mex. Hopefully they will find a way back.

they've been a landmark in san antonio since the 50's , its a shame todays generation only remembers the glitter and crap this tourist town has become. that old white hair guy has been with them for so long its hard to remember the first time i saw him, i think he actually worked at the other one one wilson blvd before it closed. ive been a customer since the 50s, pitiful the comments from the trolls, todays generation seems to think money is the only thing important, no idea of tradition or ethics.

Seems suspicious, makes me wonder if they started the fire on purpose since they were losing money maybe

@@prosniper_-sq1fd staying packed doesn’t mean that they weren’t barely scraping by behind closed doors …or , perhaps the owners wanted out of the business. I just think it’s highly suspicious that after all the years it has been in San Antonio, it didn’t burn down years ago, but yet with better technology and security systems and smoke detectors, it magically burns down during Covid when things are becoming more expensive, especially food products which are crucial to any restaurant’s profit. I could be wrong, but I still just think it’s suspicious

They did this for the insurance money, they need a newer building. You see they kept their employees in one place so they can come back once the insurance is approved and they rebuild their building. Give if about 9 months, they be back in business again
