As someone who has lived in San Diego for nearly 40 years, I will impart a little advice. First, outdoor space is KING in San Diego. If you're going to be in an apartment or a townhouse and you don't have a useable outdoor space, you should just cross it off your list. I would gladly even give up some interior space to get a useable, private patio or balcony. It's going to be useable almost year-round. We actually sold our fancy townhouse near La Jolla to get a place with more outdoor space. Second, you are paying through the nose for those high-rise amenities. Trust me, your landlord is paying $1000+ a month on HOA fees and you are covering all of that as part of your rent. If you don't see the amenities of the building being something you want to use on the regular, I think you are wasting a lot of money. Third, a lot of people from other parts of the country get obsessed about living "downtown". While San Diego's downtown is definitely becoming more and more of a scene, it's not really the heart of the county the same way it is in a lot of other big cities. Don't get FOMO just because you are not living downtown. Lastly, one of the reasons Little Italy is more expensive than East Village is because it has a whole lot less homeless and vagrants on the streets. Nothing like paying $4500 in rent and then walking out your front door and see someone peeing on the side of the building. All that said, you guys are young and have a fair amount of money to spend, so you will have a blast living downtown. Good luck!

I have lived in SD and LA since 1997 and have no interest in an apartment patio or outdoor space unless it's a private residence/home. I love the sun but won't use an apartment patio ever. Pool is required.

@@EshiJay One advice for filming: Dont pan so much, not so fast, and not 180°, especially not with a narrow lens. Shoot with a wider lens, only few and only slow pans. Will 100% improve your material.

Thanks for the tour! …fun (for me) to see your perspective about downtown. If you’re water (ocean views) people, definitely check out some of the beach communities - you might enjoy watching the sunset sitting on a beach versus a sterile view from a hi rise. Wherever you land, factor the time to commute to work - it’s getting progressively worse.

I live in San Diego now. Rent is out of effing control here! And I make well over six figures! Good y’all ran away from Urbana East Village. I lived there for a year and a half. I had a two BR two bath. The apartments are spacious and very nice especially the kitchen. However, the walls are crazy thin. Everyone complained about the noise inside and outside. They had to move me to a different apartment because I could hear every step the people above me made and their dogs. It was like it was in stereo. Almost drove me crazy! I’ve lived in high rise, luxury apartments in ATL, Bethesda, MD, and NYC and Urbana was the noisiest apartment I’ve ever lived in in my life. I threatened to break my lease many times in emails due to the constant noise from people above me. Also, during baseball season, the traffic to the park next door is ridiculous and folks would park their cars in our garage and there would be no where to park. I complained about that and they would not tow the cars that didn’t belong. All they would do is put an orange sticker on their windows. I had even more problems at Urbana but too much to explain here. Oh they had plumbing problems in the building where other apartments shyt would back up into one of my bathrooms. They had to call in an outside plumber to fix. If it’s your dream to move here, then do it. But get ready to spend way way way more for rent, gas, food, everything! But y’all have two incomes. So it should be doable.

Very Good Video. You might check out Harborview Apartment Homes. 2 short blocks from Sea Port Village with some views of the Harbor. I think in your price range. I lived there when it first opened( 1992 for 4 years) on the 3rd of 4 floors facing west with sunset Views over San Diego Bay & Point Loma. ..

@@EshiJay Carlsbad I still like! Not too crazy expensive not too busy cool California beach people! Go to Dinis Restaurant sometime around sunset you'll see what I mean. Yeah that's the only place in San Diego County I truly do miss! It hasn't changed yet over the years!! Do try!! God bless! And good luck 🤙

Amenities can't be beat, to be honest. Truly the best amenities I've found downtown. Also pricing for the unit we found was comparable to those others, but with a better layout and view. So it was basically the only one we both were excited for! And I still recommend it over the others 🤙🏾. Feel free to message me on Instagram, I can go into more detail!

So typically if you're in the northern hemisphere, south facing windows get the most light throughout the day!

FYI, downtown has a HUGE homeless issue. ANYTHING downtown will be affected by this ramped problem.

Yes that's true! I haven't had any issues with the homeless (now that I have moved downtown), and honestly they're just humans who need a place to live, but I definitely understand the concern

@@EshiJay I totally agree with you too. Also, welcome to San Diego! We’re neighbors. I expressed caution ⚠️ because I live in Bankers Hill and have been knocked out by a homeless person at the local 7-11 (Spruce & 5th) near my home. He just punched me with an 8-ball (literally a pool ball 🎱) and that’s all I remembered. Please be safe 🙏🏼
