I leave for boot camp on the 25th and my rate is OS. I’m originally from LA, my question is where you able to choose your base in San Diego or were you just randomly placed? I’m really hoping I get based in SD because it’s close to home:(

Imma tell you a secret… idk how but “they” love OSs 😏 whoever chooses where we go they love us. Literally 3 classes of OSs all got their first pick! They give you a “dream sheet” and you pick 2 places you wanna go. Put SD twice!! It’s not 100% you’ll get it but put it twice and say you’re going there and you’ll go there! 🥰 also if you do really good in school you’ll get to pick.

There are Point Mugu Navy Air Station Base and Port Hueneme Sea Bee Base near LA. Both are 1.5 hours drive away from LA.

@@ganinealanagomez6494 I've been out of the Navy 40 years +... coming out of Signalman school in Orlando, I chose Little Creek VA because it was near my home in N.C. and it was an Amphib base (no carriers). Worked out great for me. I got the USS Hermitage LSD 34... great ship, great crew, many of us still keep in touch. Good luck!!!

Why my friend have the same name as you 😭 but E-4 and below leave in the barracks unless your married or have kids then you’ll live out in town.

I don't think they have an upgraded suite. The bulk of the Navy is E4 and up already.

My ship is a precom (Pre-commissioning). Which means my ship is still getting built. And my ship is an ESB we have 2 teams so 1 team is always on deployment while the other is home. So win win for me lol I got soooo luckyyyy 😮‍💨🥳

@@37_Jacc if you married or have kids you gon live off base inna house or apartment or whatever. You wouldn’t live on the ship unless you on deployment.
