The state of CA has spent 300 million sweeping homeless encampments, the result of that homelessness is worse than ever.Lets be honest here homeless individuals living out of a tent don't have much to lose at this point,they could lose their tent and belongings but they will just be sleeping on the sidewalk.They could be ticketed and arrested but they don't have money to pay and they will just be released and back on the streets starting the cycle of homelessness over again.The only effective solution is to give them somewhere to live, doesn't have to be a great place but somewhere or else we will all just spend billions more and waste time and resources that could be used to stop sex trafficking, drug trafficking, smash and grab and armed robberies, burglaries, fraud and violent assaults and murders.Before anyone suggests prison, it cost 175,000 per inmate for one year to incarcerate one inmate, the cost for housing one homeless individual is 55,322.Also 40 to 50 percent of the homeless population works, so unless you want the service economy to disappear, you need to start making housing affordable or raise your wages to the relative cost of living.

Maybe they can go, you know, get a job, work and pay the rent and live in dignity like the rest of us? If they can't afford to live in California then they can go to another state where its more affordable. There is no "right" to live anywhere. If I don't work and pay my taxes and rent I get evicted or lose my house. Namby pamby do gooders like you are part of the problem.

The same homeless man for over ten years under HWY 580 on 14th/MacArthur 😮 trashing the area, blocking sidewalk. Gave him a porta potty instead of enforcing the law😢We residents are sick of it‼️

As for the drug problem, I think that manufacturing of fentanyl in other countries should be considered a terrorist act and dealt with accordingly.

I hope these people were smart enough to have a follow up plan to clean and sanitize these areas after they remove the homeless and their properties. Urine, feces and other bodily fluids/waste materials aren't just going to go away by themselves. Citizens of these communities need to push this concern as well. Yes it'll cost more money, so the people better know how to budget. If anyone on this board works on their salary increases, the community needs to kick them out ASAP. Everyone has to watch this from every angle.

Saturday and Sunday Baker Beach looked like a landfill… plastic bottles and trash throughout the beach. No city or police to give tickets. Please send a crew to document … we confronted one family from the east bay Indian origin they left plastic bottles and trash that brought with them… they did not seem to care or be aware that they were trashing the baker beach. They were visiting from inland to escape the heat… such a shame.…. Many others did the same… ruined the beach.

Since the city does not have a solution for where the homeless go you’ll get an infinity loop of homeless moving all around the city to the next encampment bc you still cannot force shelter or medical attention. This won’t age well at all. Hold your city officials to be accountable for all the options and backup plans for where they are to go. Unless you do that this is just new fluff and the homeless will move right back to where they were. Oh and let alone they can’t tackle them all at one time. You think abandoned cars were hard to keep off the streets. Watch how this plays out.

This is so frikkin WRONG. Where exactly are people supposed to go??? These people are NOT the problem. The problem is that there are more SF residents than affordable SF homes. It's basic math. This situation was not caused by the people who are living on the street. It was caused by the poor civic planning, lack of oversight/accountability, and greed, of people in positions of authority. If homeless people were actually the ones receiving all of the government grant money, they would no longer be poor/homeless! If you want to know who is getting the money, all the government would have to do would be to conduct a widespread audit of tax returns/bank statements of the fiscal managers who hold positions of authority regarding local government expenditures. Those people are the REAL criminals.

No such thing as an "affordable" home in California. Ask yourself how a drug addicted layabout is going to be able to afford anything in San Francisco, one of the most expensive housing markets in the world? I suppose you want the government to provide "free housing" which just means that someone else is paying for it. Why should I work my ass off and pay the some of the highest taxes in the USA so those who dont want to work can live for free. I do support a basic safety net... but honestly if you can't afford to live somewhere you move to somewhere that you can and get a job, pay rent, live in dignity like the rest of us and stop using drugs and destroying yourself and passing the buck onto others. That is not the American way. People like you that want forced income redistribution and endless welfare are the problem. Nobody has a right to live anywhere and allowing these people to live on the streets in squalor is not compassionate or fair to anyone.

@@josephgriffin2388 The homeless have less political/social influence, and less access to resources than any other segment of society. That being the case - how are THEY supposed to change anything? How are THEY supposed to create/build affordable housing that will pass merit for government approval? California does not have enough homes for all the people who are in need of them, and also refuses to rescind any of the laws that currently make it impossible for residents to implement any kind of housing solution that they might actually be able to afford (ie: RV/trailer parks, tiny home communities, off-grid housing development, etc). In other words, state/local government is actively/intentionally preventing the homeless from implementing the only positive changes that they have the ability make.

A city creates law that gives a group of people a reason to stay in an area. Nobody's fault. But if that same city changes the law that forces a group of people to have damage caused to them, then the city should provide resources to support them in the short term to "un-create" the problem that was created by the city.
