the mayor is saying that people have no food, water, meds.. i just had this conversation with someone a few days ago regarding people here, in calif.. what you do, i asked her, if you didn't have your thyroid or diabetes medication? she said,""die,i guess?".. i told her, her daughter, her other kids, cut your friggin cable of $185.00 a month and start buying extra stuff..when shtf .. what are you gonna do?i left and about two days later, a mutual friend told me that one of the uncles asked her for toilet paper, some beans and water... think about that!! they have MONEY for cable but not for toilet paper??!?!??!?!?!? are you !!*!&!&! kidding me...i feel for the crippled/'disabled/severely handicapped and others who TRULY can't work, who TRUYL have no $$, no cellphone, no cable.. because they can't afford it.. those people deserve help...

Carmen Yulin the mayor of San Juan P.R. Is so real in her message and so affective with her people in the island. She has been so active from hurricane Irma and Maria. Such a respective feminist in her own ways. Love her as a person and will definitely vote for her as a governor of Puerto Rico when she runs in another four years to come. Que viva Puerto Rico y siempre somos Unidos.🤗🤗🙏🏿🙏🏿😊😊🌟🌟🌟🌟🐓🐓🐓🐓🐐🐐🐐🐐👍🏼👍🏼

Thankfully - as of Sept 25, the Coast Guard has the ports of San Juan, Guayanilla, Salinas, and Tallaboa at full operation and the ports of San Juan, Fajardo, Culebra, Guayama, and Vieques operating with restrictions. The problem now is getting truckers to move the goods in: as there is no communication, most truckers did not report to duty since they are with their families There is a huge backlog of goods at San Juan and there are ships in port in the USA because there are no slots at the ports in PR (per CNN). As there are now large contingents of mainland national guardsmen there, (last I checked they were deployed from Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin) and 2400 US marines on the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge and the dock landing ship USS Oak Hill maybe they have a better pool of dedicated truckers. It is time to send a massive helicopter fleet to move necessary goods by air and massive numbers of mainland national guardsmen to move the goods by land. Although the expertise is there for the crisis, they made a mistake in thinking that they would have plenty of indigenous manpower but with communications down, you need to bring that manpower in. Lesson learned. FEMA seems to be doing its best but with this being the 3rd disaster in a row, it really requires that the military lead. Look at how the USA is helping in Dominica, where the operation is completely run by the military amphibious assault ship USS Wasp, they are basically moving most of the population off the island as there is no civilian control (granted that Dominica only has 100,000 people). The US should never have closed the Roosevelt Roads Naval Base and air strip.

Hoping this begins to turn more around in next day or so~ posting on social media! I live on Big Island of Hawai'i and so I tend to think a lot about these things, 14 days of drinking water per day per person in emergency preparedness, food supply, off grid power sources, communication, community sustainability. Seriously. As if a hurricane isn't bad enough now, they will have disease to contend with~

joe rond I live in one rainforest, so this could also happen here to me. Facts and data: A natural disaster is what got to the point of what happened, not a bad administration or one single person to specifically single out such as one mayor of capitol city. Hurricane Cat 4 and 5 are devastating to any area. History and videos show electrical grid down in wealthy areas as well as poor, in urban cities as well as rural area. If hurricane Irma took a different path it could have approached 1Trillion. What do we lose when we lose power? Safety mechanisms, transportation, communication, clean water, sewage disposal, air quality, food storage, medication storage, life support devices and medical technologies, temperature control, and light. The stories you are telling yourself and others are out of anger, frustration, disappointment, sadness, and blame. What responsibilities do you take for yourself and what do you own in this situation? What requests would you ask of yourself or others? This mayor is doing as much as possibly can given the apocalyptic situation. The scale of the federal response right now is not on scale with the level of devastation. the sheer magnitude of the devastation on the island made distributing federal aid difficult. The scope and magnitude of what’s going on is so large, not entirely sure that they really know where to start. The US President faces multiple political risks related to Maria as scope of decimation becomes clearer by the day. With all due respect, the relief efforts are NOT doing well, they’re NOT close to good enuff, all any American needs to do is open a newspaper or turn on a TV to know that PR is not doing well. Hopefully others down the line are stepping up in leadership roles now. The mayor of San Juan, three days from this video, has appeared in news video at heartfelt and wit's end of crying pleas which is appropriate given the dire circumstances with each day that passes that red tape of fema superiors do not give the go orders. The lives of PR are precious, may all their needs be met!

I live in Utuado, PR, I spen the summers in New York, I had a flight scheduled for today that was canceled. A normal flight was 150.00 one way. American Airlines is now asking 1495.00 one way. Additionally, I was at the airport today and my flight did take off and Im sure those individuals are also victims of price gauging. I cant get to my mother in Utuado because airlines want to make money off of this tragic situation. God bless this Mayor and as for the airlines other than Jet Blue, "God don't like ugly", you will pay for what you are doing to deperate people in dire straits!!!

The government of Puerto Rico has been corrupt for many, many years and it's leaders have bled off all of the money to take care of it's people. So, why should we in America donate anything to them? We shouldn't they had their chance at statehood more than once and declined so let them clean up their own back yard. They're not our responsibility and we have our own to take care of at this time. We have given the people of Puerto Rico enough hand outs, now it's time they learn to take care of themselves and stand on their own feet and rebuild on their own.

Carlos Baez. Go back to your Xbox child. The place is hit by hurricanes yearly...so you are telling me the government does not plan ahead. She says that "we are an island...we import everything, there is no reservoir of drinking water". So what do they do...only get drinking water from ships. Do they have water towers? Absurd that they do not prepare.

Whose fault is it they can't get electricity on? I guess she is having regrets about neglecting financial responsibilities because now her own people are treating her as the deadbeat she is. The drivers won't drive. Pay them. You left all these people in bad straights. Why didn't you do more before the hurricanes? Texas and Florida both dealing with it too but they did not refuse to pay their own people. There are already thousands of people volunteering. Help them out. The long time is due to your neglect. For the ppl talking about debts dem, an other bs. The problem is no water no electricity. Picture your whole town where you live at with niether. Now multiply it by 78 towns in the same situation. If u saved water for the storm do you think it was enough for wks. Listen there is some improvement thanks to the help coming in and the military n Cuba sent help Santo Domingo sent gas. Why must our president disparage the people of Puerto Rico. This is an emergency. A hurricane cut through the island and so many affected. Picture having to go number two n there’s no water to flush. Wipe your hands. Picture running low on food supplies n u tell u kids no on water or food. You have to ration. Picture loosing your job cause the storm ruined the buildings. Can’t take out money cause no atm no electricity (while ppl doing better in some parts not all areas are) if you have health issues hospitals are running just nearly, lights went down again near San Juan the airport had lost it too. I know cause my husband is down there was hoping to bring his 87 yr old dad who said no he’s staying. His town gets water turned on at 5 n it on for a few hrs. Not all towns are able to have water. I know cause of my husband. Texting is very limited. Best times we talk are early n he has to go to a certain place for signal. He said the trees look almost burnt no leaves no green. All I think is if there is problems with the water this will get worst. So hanging in there wish health n peace to all. And the on thing I like about Carmen Yulín is that her urgency in her interviews made ppl more aware of the situation in PR. I thank her for that. Cause PR is hurting 😞

Trump says he has a wonderful relationship with this woman ... even though he spent the weekend bitching about football rules ... and the fact that Puerto Rico has no money. Worm.

As far as who we are biblically. Read the diaries of the abusive Christopher Colon and his brother Bartholomew De Las Cases. They tells us whom we are as Tainos. Education is powerful!!!!!! Seek it! And don't mock people like myself who studied and seek truth!!!

Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz in my opinion deserves the position of governer, She feels for the people, not the got dam cameras. And her voice and actions speak louder then words! While the governers plays puppet of trump, Yulin Cruz plays Leaders for the Puerto Rican people and is concerned about the well being and safety of our Puerto Rican people.!!! Whom ever does not like what have shared, move on!!!! Others understand and feel as I!!!!!

The island needs to be completely evacuated with the residents put in shelters all across Canada and the United States, with all countries representing the UN to send their ships and people in to rebuild the island and make it the tourist resort it once was.

WARNING: Although it's not my intention with what I'm about to say next...this could anger many Puerto Ricans on my network. Carmen Yulín Cruz has got to be THE MOST INCOMPETENT MAYOR I have ever seen due to her extreme inability to become the leader San Juan needs right now. Every time there's a news update, she carries herself like any other civilian as opposed to taking the kind of initiative one should expect from an elected official in charge. She literally reeks of quitting while preaching a resiliency that she herself has yet to demonstrate. At this point, I have no reason to doubt that Puerto Rico's elected officials have always been LAZY CORRUPT DO-NOTHINGS who have lived off the public dole since the Jones Act was put into place. Especially when you take into account a Third World infrastructure that is literally over half a century old. One would think that they would have at least invested in modernizing while enforcing new regulations to help combat these tropical storms. The Mayor, Governor Ricardo Rosselló and their many predecessors are going to have plenty to answer for once this is over. I would also like to go on record and thank CBS News Correspondent David Begnaud for doing more than those two combined. As far as I'm concerned, he has literally become Puerto Rico's voice and link to the mainland.
