A new training program at San Quentin State Prison has inmates training puppies to eventually become service dogs. Max Darrow reports. (5-18-23)

Thats a great program. I saw a program that was similar working with horses. Good for everyone.

Dogs are very healing friends. They definitely got the best traits from the wolves ❤ I will remember my first dog, the sweetest girl, forever. She lives in my heart ❤️

Thank God for mercy and grace for we all make horrible mistakes especially when we are young…I think this is an awesome program for inmates that are truly remorseful and serving their time productively .

Love this. Humans are so fallible for all except the truly psychopathic. Mercy and grace is the only way for one to overcome their mistakes and to move forward. I don't know why it is in short supply in this country though. Probably because of money.

I usually think of killers as monsters but if this man can change positively and 110% sincere then I almost would like to see him succeed on outside. If he can be kind to dogs then I’d like to think he extends that to the innocent

And shelter programs to make dogs/cats more adoptable should be everywhere in the systsm.

This is what true rehabilitation can do. Programs like this and other skill building ones like IT should be the standard across US correctional system. This is what people’s tax money should go to.

these programs help a lot they don't just help the company with free training, but you remind these prisom=ners that being on your best behavior and trying to better yourself does have some perks, having contact with animals is really good for them even the ones who didn't think they wants to, once they actually meet the animals it's almost like they're different people ..... there have been programs with horse's and even prisoners socializing cats that had a huge increased for their cat adoptions because of what a great job the prisoners were doing with the cats- and many were adult cats, which was really great.....we waste so much money making people feel like shit instead of rehabilitating them- and no, I don't think you can fix a serial killer and I do not think sex offender can be rehabilitated, but a kid who was mixed up in gang and made a horrible mistake and since has show sincere remorse , yes, I do think they can be rehabilitated, I think they could be great speakers to other kids that are in that situation today to help get them out before they make the same mistake....as for people who are just full of rage if they were like that from the day they were born, they belong i w psych ward, not prison, prison will just make them worse & more dangerous because they not treating them, it they angry because of something they need therapy so they can learn how to cope better or what caused the rage and how to heal form it ...prisons cannot want be run for profit when human lives are at stake.... they need to be taken back over by the government and add psychology and intense therapy wherever applicable.... in addition any programs that included animals to socialize and or train would give them not only a sense of purpose and but reason to be their best and even try to improve on themselves for the chance to participate.

It's only 4 minutes, but I have had a lot of videographers waste my time... My only question, Are they paying these men like they are contractors?, or are they paying them 15¢ an hour?

I hope they aren't paying them at all. They don't deserve to get paid. Frankly, they deserve to be tied to a chair and their victims allowed to do whatever they want to them.

Even out in the free world, organizations like Canine Companions use volunteers as puppy raisers. No one gets paid to raise these puppies.

There are a handful of inmates that are good people, but 95% are evil humans.

I think people are naturally good at heart. Its their experiences and upbringing that leads them down these paths. I wouldn't call them evil more so misguided. That being said yes some people can't change and are truly evil but I genuinely belive that to be the minority.
