1 - Pedestrian Belgrano
San Salvador de Jujuy is characterized by the possibility of walking on foot and enjoying its history. If you are staying in one of the downtown hotels you can walk through the historic center.
Like all cities, San Salvador de Jujuy has its main street, which is named after the creator of the national flag: Belgrano. In colonial times (where it was also the main road) they called it "King's Street", as it was the official route of the then Spanish sovereign.

2 - San Francisco Church | Location: Belgrano and Lavalle
He acquired the title of Basilica on July 14, 2009, in recognition of Pope Benedict XVI on October 8, 2008.
The temple is located at the corner of Belgrano and Lavalle streets. The church of San Francisco was the first construction built by the Franciscans between 1611 and 1618. Like most of the buildings made in adobe, it was subjected to several reconstructions.
3 - Jujuy Popular Library - Location: Belgrano 652
Founded on October 27, 1899. It has a bibliographic heritage of great wealth and value. Only in 1906, by a decision of the state, the library went to the building in which it is currently.
4 - Provincial Historical Museum «Juan Galo Lavalle» - Location: Lavalle 252
It is based in the old house of the mid-eighteenth century, declared a National Historic Landmark, where Lavalle was killed, one of the political-military leaders of South American independence.
5 - San Salvador Cathedral- Location: Sarmiento and Gral. San Martín
The Cathedral of San Salvador de Jujuy dates back to the 17th century and is an exponent of colonial baroque architecture. Inside, it preserves valuable objects and images of religious art, among which the lying Christ stands out. The pulpit, carved in ñandubay and cedar, is one of the best achieved in the country. On the main altar, look at the gold leaf (gold foil). In the aisles you can see old paintings from the colonial era that belong to the Cuzco school. The Cathedral was the first building in the country to be declared a National Historic Heritage.
6 - El Cabildo (Police Historical Museum) - Location: Gral. Belgrano y Sarmiento
The Cabildo was an important institution of the old colonial administration. The original building was destroyed by an earthquake and the current one was rebuilt in the year 1863. Currently, the Police Historical Museum and Memory Site is in the town hall, reminiscent of the victims of the last dictatorship.
7 - General Belgrano Square
It was the main square at the time of the foundation of the city. At present it is the historical, political and social center of San Salvador. In the center is the monument of Manuel Belgrano, general of the Army of the North in the war for independence. Opposite the square are the most important buildings in the city such as the Government House, the Cabildo, the National University of Jujuy, the Cathedral and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
8 - Government House - Location: Sarmiento and Gral. San Martín
Located just in front of the Plaza General Belgrano, you will visit a French-style building, which houses ornaments, flags, and stories around which the current Jujuy was built.
On the 1st floor of this construction we will find the Flag Hall, it is the main hall of the Government House in which the flag donated by General Belgrano (hero of the independence of our country) is kept to the Cabildo of the province of Jujuy in 1813.
9 - XIBI XIBI PASEO LINEAR PARK - Location: between Av. April 19 and Hipólito Yrigoyen
On July 31, 2018, the xibi xibi park was inaugurated, designed as a space for family reunion, promotion of healthy habits, links with nature and a new tourist attraction in San Salvador de Jujuy.
The park has 2.5 kilometers of extension and in the recovered bed an internal network of 3.75 kilometers of bicycle paths and roads was built. It also makes the inclusion with access ramps and the installation of integrative games, which are added to the equipment of urban gyms. The amphitheater «Las Lavanderas», a space for artistic and recreational expressions, was also inaugurated.
