Unity Dots is a programing framework designed for performance and multithreading. It's what is allowing the 10000+ units without the game turning into a slideshow. Unity recently released the version 1.0 of the last one of the 3 main components of the framework wich kinda broke the existing projects using it. An F For many of the programers in this project that had to redo most of their work.

Imagine if this poor bastard finally got a million subs on the back of this release. StarCraft 2 was a big disappointment, relative to the original. The audience is out there, waiting for something to quench their thirst for a real modern RTS!

If this plays identical to Sup Com, but with those visuals & awesome map damage etc etc, it's going to be the best RTS ever made.........something supcom has held the crown for years now.

Oh thank God, we finally have a proper Successor to Supreme Commander! If this is made to easily support Mods, Supreme Commander will finally be given a heroes burial.

This looks great. I haven't played rts in ages and only started watching your supcom videos recently, but even I got excited by the trailers. They're really well done.

As a Game Developer who knows what Unity DOTS is and has worked with it in an experimental stage, I'm excited to see a commercial product launching with this technology. We sadly had to ditch it using our current development (we where using a hybrid DOTS implementation) so I haven't had much contact with it for about a year, but it seems like it came a long way since I last used it. Really nice to see this close to release!

Thx for a kind words. I am one of DOTS devs in this Sanctuary project. DOTS is indeed challenging, as we experience, yet results can be highly rewarding if executed right. One important thing is to remember with Unity DOTS, that not whole package of DOTS must be used. Can use for example jobs and burst, without ECS. This can make development much easier, for developers, who are more aligned with OOP. All best, if willing to try DOTS again in your future project. Maybe after DOTS 1.0 is released. ;)

@@Antypodish Thanks for the response! We actually do still use the Job System with Burst for some parts of our project. That part of DOTS is already released and it does perform really well, we used to have ECS and thats the part we ditched. Though I have to say aswell, that we are developing for VR on the Oculus Quest 2 so there are lots of special cases for us, which may not show up for others. We have to work within very tight performance constraints and deploy on Android, so I'm not surprised at all, that we had problems

Absolutely love SUPCOM for its unique approach, and especially its scale with huge maps and epic long range units, artillery etc...but the cherry on top is experimentals and the only game to get nukes right (many rts have nukes, but they seriously fail at being large enough damage for a "nuke"). With that said, this game has to be my most anticipated, cant wait game to release ever...looks absolutely epic so far, and has infinite potential. Please dont cut corners creators to save money or rush an earlier release; make it awesome and in the end it'll be worth it when it becomes game of the year. Id gladly pay extra/more than usual game price for an epic title like this over cheaper versions with less unit types etc any day! I wish i were rich so i could help fund a legend...keep up the good work devs, you're making history as we speak

Woot, looks like a true/spiritual successor to SupCom FA brought up to modern standards! Please, please keep it more in line to FA with more strategic/tactical options and don't ruin it. I could not bear another SupCom 2 disaster.

Nice explosions, but I feel like the units and buildings have no distinguishing theme when viewed at a distance. In comparison in FA it's easy to see you're facing a Cybran army.

Lol i doubt itll look the same. Supcom has the best look for an rts in terms of unit styles, explosions, map terrain, water etc. The graphics and look here kinda reminds me of Ashes of Singularity which was meh.

I like the idea of destructible terrain, but I find that it could quickly turn into a gimmick. It would be a better idea to have the option to build normal nukes (or equivalent superweapons) and have the additional option to upgrade them (at an extra cost) to cause structural damage to the sphere. This way, players would still be able to choose between a simple nuke, or a weapon that can alter the map (I can imagine situations where the first is desirable while the second isn't).

The thing is, sphere cracking weapons are VERY strong, they can literally drop an army into the sun or completely stop enemy's advancement by simply blocking one of the only ways to reach your base. It has to stay at the strength level of an end gamer, and so a cost. There have been said an option of using multiple nukes at the same time to break the sphere, so it may be possible to use too

what bugs me is that they are building a dyson shell....with the star inside, so....why live on the oustide, and what is providing the light to them?

a plexiglas porthole, light shines up to a satellite that's a mirror and back down to the surface. at short distance (0.024 AU) you'd be vaporized on the inside side. (nevermind you just falling in you wouldn't stick to the surface, and no at that range ‎Centripetal force is no match for 1G of gravity from the sun)

It looks so good. It truely is a worthy spiritual successor to Supreme Commander. Can't wait to play it! The only thing I dislike is that its based on Unity, since the creators of that engine have made some uh.... QUESTIONABLE choices in regards to merging with IronSource, which is probably best known for their Malware delivery system. I hope this wont result in problems down the line like a forced engine change or other controversy.

Yes, our focus is on Unity DOTS multithreaded tech. We utilize best of modern multithreaded CPU capabilities.
