Nobody and I mean NOBODY can sing this song like Sandi Patty did in 1986. She still sings amazingly well and can still hit those high notes. She is greatly gifted by God and was classically trained. Always will be my favorite gospel singer of all times.

Agreed! I've heard so many covers by many great vocalists, but I've never heard a voice as otherworldly as Sandi, especially during the late 80's and early 90's. It wasn't just technical ability, which was still mind boggling, it was her interpretive abilities with every lyric and word, each note and emphasis placed along the arrangement with perfection. I consider myself so blessed to have grown up during this time. Her voice was truly a treasure on loan from heaven!

I was in the drum section of the We The People 200 All American Band onstage that evening in Philly. She was pregnant at the time. Biggest goosebump moment of my life.

This entire version of our countries national song was first rate. There is no reason to compare one singer against another, but the fact we are privileged with wonderful singers with pure talent makes my heart blessed. My tears were brought on by the joy of music and the fact of living in this country. God bless this country.

Sandi and her music arrangers have really turned this anthem into a complete new masterpiece. As the song is coming to an end, you keep saying, is she going to do it?,..is she going to do it?,..and WOW,..her last note blows it out of the park.

As said of her 1986 performance celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, "a voice right out of the Heavens". Sandi's training and God's anointing have made her one of the best of our times. Love the longer version, also.

The three best Renditions, Rene Fleming , Sandy Patty and Whitney Houston.
@Ihdc18 жыл бұрын
+Alan Hall Agree 100%. All those pop singers are just focused on being loud and adding extra notes. It just sounds like yelling. I really like Sandi's softer, sweeter voice. And Whitney belts with correct technique so she can sound powerful but not strained. Love Renee Fleming's operatic technique too. Sandi is definitely classically trained too with the way she hits those high soprano notes. Notice she sings the full extended version as opposed to the short version which is all that most people know how to sing.

Roseanne Barr or Sandi Patty singing the Anthem? The various artists who have sung the anthem only wish they could match this rendition. Nobody holds a candle to this version.
