Today was ONE LONG DAY!
What started out peaceful and slow, turned into a day of wishing for more hands, and eyes on the back of my head!
I've officially adopted the quads as mom is still not even trying to stand...
I ran across the road to weigh market lambs to ship this week and had a snuggle with Billy the Kid!
And all afternoon was lamb after lamb after lamb!
Eventually, I had an opportunity to try to foster a couple of the quads... easier said than done.
#lambing #fosteringlambs #sheep

My favorite thing is the lambs standing or laying on their mom or when the lambs have their bouncing stampede. Thanks for posting.

I know it adds so much to your day, but I am sure I can speak for almost everyone else in saying that I look forward to your videos daily. It is true therapy to watch the lambs playing and choosing an auntie to lie on top of. Even when things go wrong, the way you handle it is very calming. Thank you so much!

My grandmother would use vanilla extract to get mom's to accept foster babies. . She'd put it on the mom's nose and on the baby, so they smelled the same way. Had great success with this method on many species. Just a thought, possibly a future solution. Thank you for your content!

Yes my grandmother used a lavender water solution and it was successful many times... Seemed to work with rabbit's and ferrets though the ferrets were harder to trick.

I will have to tell you, My dog Jane who is an Australian Shepherd that we use on our livestock, Loves your videos. It doesn't matter where she is in the house. I start watching your Vlog and she runs into the office or the living room and starts wining and talking and barking at the screen. Sometimes I just turn you on to watch her. You are her favorite show now.

This daily dose of Sandi's lambs & ewes is helping me fight off the dark blues. So far it's working, when taken with a large dose of puppy. My heart goes out to everyone through this corona virus time. Stay safe. The bunny eared lamb with the speckled face is a darling. ❤

I remember hearing that when a sheep just lays down and gives up, and she just cant bother to try, there's nothing at all you can do to change her mind. Sheep really can give up the will to live, and die. On the other hand, there were so many adorable babies! The markings and color on them is beautiful.

Two stillborn lambs this year, in a group this large, isn’t bad. I think you’re up to having lost six lambs. In the moment I think it’s overwhelming. When you sit back and look at all the data I don’t think it’s that bad. You’ve been averaging 2.5 lambs in the past. I think this lambing that number is higher. A set of five and lots of quads or triplets. Fostering any animal is hard. I just want to thank you for sharing all of this with us. I means so much to some of us.

Number 48 ewe with the green spray rubbed over her eyes looked like she had on eyeshadow. It was so cute and silly. Couple of small hiccups, but take heart Sandi that almost all of your flock looks great. Market lambs are growing like weeds, the new babies are too. Good luck with your fosters and the chaos. 🐑

You are beautiful....so don’t let those chapstick shamers get to you! One of the things I think makes you so beautiful is your smile! The big grin you get and the way your eyes light up when you see a new lamb or open your office door each morning...every time! I love when women show their freckled faces, sun on their cheeks, and crazy wind blown messy bun hair! Because it shows who they really are...and that they are outside, working their home gardens, farms and animals...and loving every minute of it. I find that more attractive than a face covered up with makeup any day.

My old Paso Fino whose grave we dug in the fall, expecting to need it, survived to this spring and is acting like we may not need that grave at least for another month, hopefully he gets another summer. As long as he can walk and eat and not be in pain, we'll try to keep him above ground... he's my last horse. Getting hay in a pandemic is a bit tough though.

I was looking into the background of your sheep and when you mentioned the length of this little lambs ears and I think they're the longest in the lab crop so far) but that would trace back in the Il-de-France line as that was composed of Dishley, Leiccester and Ramboullet and originally known as Dishley Merino. This breeding gives the Il-de-France their long ears, which I'll bet is where hers comes from.... awfully cute too!!! You have chosen some really nice breeds to work with and that they are so consistent in lambing mostly twins and more quite successfully is a real plus. Both to the breeding and your husbandry. Keep on doing what your doing...your success rate from birth to shopping is amazing.😉❤❤🐏🐑

Sandi dont feel bad taking the a triplet off a mom or a quad, even on my dads small scale farm we take a triplet and always supplement no matter how much milk has mom, ur making sure all ur lambs are healthy and fed and getting up to a good weight, keeping them on there mom would probably result in a lighter weight lamb or I'll end up with one or more going down hill after a few days, ur just taking off that risk factor

First thought I had when you came in the barn and all was quiet was - go back to the house and have a couple hours kip. So happy to see you took the quads from the down ewe's pen, though sorry your ewe is not up, yet. It's such a blessing to have the machine for the extra lambs. I think you are wise to only leave twins on your ewes as you feed for twins and trying to separate into groups and have multiple feed formulas is more work than just letting the machine take over for the extras. I'd leave ewe lambs on the ewe and ram lambs on the milk machine, if you are keeping replacement ewe lambs. It is odd, your down ewes, as they are in such lovely condition. I would still try vitamaster in addition to what you are doing. Can't wait to see tomorrows episode.

Would you mind telling us how you dispose of dead ewes and lambs? Interested from a sanitary point of view, how does that works? Thanks
