Yup, so many people fanboy'ing the horrible Audis, when in fact this was the only 'win' the Audi Sport Quattro EVER got in HISTORY against AWD competitors...they could barely even win against 2WD competitors a few times, and often lost to 2WD cars over the 5 years they competed. And the only reason they got this win was because Peugeot had things wrapped up, and after Audi and Röhrl had spent at least 3 weeks going over every single stage one corner at a time practicing and setting things up...and the VERY shady things they did to their car: they even made their car immediately disappear after their 'win' never to be seen again! It's pretty clear that there was lots of illegal stuff in their car and they scrapped it right away so they couldn't ever be caught.

​@@pistonburner6448 thats bullshit, the Audi Sport Quattro won the 1984 manufacturers championship and Stig Blomqvist won the drivers championship in it. there's no conspiracy, the car was later badly damaged and disassembled for its parts to be used on the other cars. They had aluminium roll cages so in an accident they could easily be written off, the cars which have come back from retirement to impress crowds and to compete etc. Have had their original cages cut out and steel roll cages fitted to the same design as the original ally cage for safety. In one event michele mouton rolled the car, bent the roll cage and still carried on. It can easily be seen in the photos. But yes by 85 the quattro was obsolete, the chassis wasn't up to the standards of Peugeot and Lancia. But audi chose to go rallying to promote their road cars and felt building a mid engined special was just counterproductive advertising. That Peugeot were showing their road cars were inferior by not using them in competition and having to build a special. Audi Sport started building their own mid engined special prototype but when audi themselves found out about it they demanded them stop development or they'd disband the team.

You did not disprove anything with that reply which was barely in English and certainly didn't make proper, rational assertions. You can try again if you want, but this time calm down, concentrate and try to make actual sense. Tell everyone what you are talking about, then make your claim, then try to give your argumentation. You know, make sense and write properly.

Just came across the video and comment and thank god someone feels the same. I think group S would have been amazing, better handling with half the power would still have been fast, I’m also sure some teams would have tweaked the cars for more power anyways. But man I always think about how awesome group s would have been

Group a cars were setting faster stage times as early as 1988, of stages still used i think the last wrc stage record held by a group b car fell in 1994 if memory serves me correctly.
