Neat that this appears to have helped but I am curious how many of these have been immediately destroyed...because it is a plastic cover over a flasher...and a strong wind could destroy it. If this dude used an explosion-proof enclosure with explosion-proof strobe or something it would still be easy to assemble but it would at least be more useful.

@scibear9944Ай бұрын
@@TheAllMightyGodofCod In those countries, EVERYONE pays their fair share in taxes, including the wealthy and corporations, unlike here in the US. Secondly, those other countries tend to have guardrails in place to keep corporate and political corruption down. Third, the "free market" over there isn't so "free" in that there are regulations in place to keep the wealthy and corporations from gouging the masses. Fourth, the programs designed for homeless folks actually HELP the homeless, as in actually giving them homes. Over here, our programs seem to be making things worse, since there are so many hoops to jump through and rules to follow most homeless folks would rather stay on the streets. Over there, housing comes first, then comes career and mental health counseling. Over here, housing has to be earned, after jumping through all the aforementioned hoops, and homes for the poor are so few that it takes years waiting for one.
@TheAllMightyGodofCodАй бұрын
@@scibear9944 you know, if you ask someone in any of those countries, they will disagree that "everyone pays there fair share of taxes" specially the rich and the poor because those last sr exempt. Also, the market is free. Regulations are towards safety, comfort and energy efficiency and not much more. We should stick to why the programs don't exist or don't work In the USA Vs why they do exist/work elsewhere and not disperse on about the reasons why people can't get a home because if we do, the conversation gets too vague. Maybe we can discuss one first, and after we are done with it, discuss the other.

I mean...I went to school...and I was good at it; I had a family home...but that was sold when my parents made a poor choice out of desperation. Nearly everything I work for in life ends up going to a landowner at some point or another. I have thought about picking up and moving on to someplace that has affordable land but then who would be my friends, family and my community? This system...is not what I was taught our society is; it's as if a war is being done but the targets are anyone who don't fit a model of labor and service extraction. A coworker and I tried a similar method to persuade the homeless from camping out behind or along side my office building. Those folks were seemingly immune to the noise and would set up shop for days at a time with our device ringing in their ears for 24 hours. I wish ours worked as well as Mr. McMahon's invention seems to.
@StephenMcMahon-s9kАй бұрын
I know it might sound like it wouldn't divert them, but, believe me: ask the residents of our bldg and our neighbors. We ALL can't believe how EFFECTIVE it is. There is something irritating about the sound of crickets!

I see a lot of empathy in these comments. I believe that every one of us regularly donates to local charities that serve the homeless, the addicted and the mentally ill. I also have faith that when we put an equal amount of money and ingenuity towards improving the lives of the less fortunate we won't be just shuffling problems down the street. We will truly deserve the accolades. Keep up the great work!

SF spends $1.1 billion on homelessness each year. Would $2 billion be enough to finally solve the problem?
@tula1433Ай бұрын
As long as there is money to be made on “solving it”, homelessness will never end. Especially when no one has to answer where the funds went!

I need this for the cable box in front of my residence where sneaky neighbors are constantly taking turns to urinate their dog. They try to disguise what they’re doing by standing between their dog and the floodlight camera pointed at them but the unsanitary evidence they leave is the same as the homeless who have no place to go. Some neighbors never learn and a device like this would put their presence on blast.

We are wasting so much time trying to punish and deter people that are unsheltered when we really should be spending all that time and effort on trying to find solutions to help those of us that becomes unsheltered.
@xandersnyder7214Ай бұрын
That is what the government should be doing, not a citizen trying to keep the homeless off his property. They shouldn't be trespassing in the first place.

He could use radar - based sensor, instead of the PIR type, so that it detects presence, even without motion.... The bare 24 GHz radar sensor costs about $2.00 from "the Express" supplier, and needs only about $20 of other electronic and hardware parts.

Only problem with mmWave radar is the range is very short compared to a PIR sensor.

My sister used to live in Santa Monica and in her parking garage there was always a homeless dude pissing on everything and touching himself.. He lived down there and was quite aggressive if you even looked at him. She called the cops multiple times, but they never did anything. She finally left to come back to Jersey and 2 days prior to her leaving, the cops came and kicked the guy out..
