With respect to Tony Lindsey and Andy Vargas, Greg Rolie will always be Santana's greatest vocalist. The man's voice is so pure, clear, soulful, just incredible.

Carlos hasn't sounded this good for 35 years, the band must bring it out of him - and that percussion section has never been bettered..

I met Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon in the fall of 1990 when i was a bouncer at the Stone in SF. They were there to see John Mclaughlin and i was able to kibitz on some incredible conversations. Neither of them look even a day older.

I'm proud to say I saw Santana at Woodstock 69 and was right in from at the wooden fence on my tip toes with the band in front of me just a few feet away. They were so good, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. One of the best times of my life. THANK YOU SANTANA!

Carlos is so indebted to Neal Schon for his melodies in the early days of Santana. Two guitar minds working as one bouncing off each other.

Sometime in the late Eighties, I was invited to a closed music industry party at the Stone in SF to celebrate Eddie Money's Gold Record, thrown by his record label at the time. There were under a hundred people at the event. The entertainment for the night was the Fabulous Thunderbirds, but without Jimmy Vaughan, who couldn't make the show for some reason. His stand-in that night was Carlos Santana. It was one of the best performances I've ever seen, and for sure, the best show ever for the T-Birds, who I've seen a number of times. Santana played every number with aplomb, as if he'd been with the band forever. It was epic, a show I'll never forget. The guy is a legend..

What would have been really great is if they pulled out some original Journey tunes from their 1st album that had a heavy Santana influence, such as " Of a Life Time" , " Topaz", and " In my Lonely Feeling / Conversations "

Carlos is a genius. Even though he could, he seldom tries to impress with speed or fancy long guitar breaks, but he knows exactly where to put little licks here and licks there to shape the music - to make it his own. One of the best, if not the best.

Saw Santana live in the early 70's in Macon GA, Carlos' sound is as good as ever. If I could only hear his guitar, vocals, keys (other than Greg), toms, and kick drum. Listened to this last night on AXS through Direct TV Now. I could hear the bass and Hammond, but every other instrument was muted. Absolutely the worst live mix I have ever heard. Can't tell if this is direct from the House board or remixed in the studio but no matter, when a man takes a solo you should not have to strain to hear it. Whoever mixed this should be fired retroactively back to 2016 and never allowed close to a console again. I'm sorry Carlos you were not done justice to your fabulous sound. Still love ya man!
