I lost my grandmother a week ago and this song I used to sing in a band in Indio, California back in 2009. Now everytime I will sing or play this song, I will dedicate to my beautiful Maria. Carlos Santana is a living legend. This man has been playing a guitar since he was 8 he will be 77 this year on July 20th i know cause my bday is the same day and he still plays! He was one of the biggest acts at Woodstock. Most play for money but Carlos is the Shaman of rock its a spiritual thing with him! Peace and Love everyone!

I grew up like this, blacks and latinos in East Harlem in the crazy 80s. Even though this song wasn't out back then, it still makes me miss my time in Spanish Harlem. My family, my friends, my neighborhood... I can feel it all when I hear this song.

The same here except in the South Bronx. Blacks and Puerto Ricans in the projects. We all grew up together, played together as kids like brothers and sisters, our parents all knew each other, no worries about crime like getting shot in the playgrounds, etc. and the adults in the community watched over us kids. we would play downstairs for hours and hours and we would go upstairs for a drink of water and back downstairs to play again. Now I’m going back way before you, but the Milkman would even deliver bottles of milk to families who ordered them and leave them outside our apartment door and NO ONE would touch those bottles of milk!!!This was around 1968-70. Great childhood memories.

This will sound crazy but to me,a 64 year old woman living in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, this touches my soul.I dreamed of neighborhoods like you described ,full of life and music and family. This song actually makes me cry, lol. It brings back memories of when times weren't so bad. When I was in 5th grade, my class put on a play about an alien who comes to Earth and the people (our class) befriend it... at the end, we put on this song and danced with the alien (lol). Every time I hear this, I remember it all. Good times.

I remember being 7 in 1999 when this album came out, and it was playing EVERYWHERE. The thing is, my parents, who were both born in the mid 60's, said "You know whats funny? When we were your age, this is the band we were listening to". This album was the comeback of the century.
