SANYO M7740 Cleaning the controllers & adjusting the tape speed

5 жыл бұрынThis boombox has 6 speakers. Top speakers can be switch on/off by the button. It is a different style of "loud" on/off button. Well designed body, The left side speakers had almost no sound due to the dirty volume slider on its top. Most of the boombox that has slider controller on its top side has the same issue. After cleaning them with contact cleaner, the sound came back. Finally adjusted the tape speed and it became as clean and shiny.

I used to have one of this in black. The same happened to mine and I thought it was gone and gave it to a coworker. If i ever knew it was the balance knob messing up I would have fixed it! I got it for christmas and used it everywhere. I loved the clean full sound it produced from such a small box. God I wish I kept it now😔 It had line in for mp3 and discman connections which made it really versatile. I even hooked it to some Jamo Compact 70 loudspeakers and a cd player and it played awesome despite only 2x 3 watts amp in it. Thanks for your nice video👍

What a cutie this little boombox is. Such a design could only ever have existed in the 80's. Seems to be in mint condition, too. Kudos to whoever owns it.

Não é possível! Deve ter trabalhado na Sanyo. Desmonta tudo literalmente e remonta brincando. É bom demais. Poxa se eu tivesse entregue a ele o conserto do meu POLYVOX estaria com meu radio gravador até hoje, mas entreguei a um tecnico enrolao , acabei perdendo.

The only Sanyo I seen that is flashy along with quality sound is the Sanyo M-X920. I could be wrong since that's the only sanyo boombox I got.

nice job! I used to repair faulty transformers and worn belts when I was 13/14 yo (~1984) only with common sens & a soldering iron I've seen a repair guy using once :) (the hero in the family...) quite a memory Sanyo & Panasonic used to be a great value for the price compared to the good but marketing-arrogant sony :)

Most of them needed to remove the front case and you see there is a hook that holding the speaker grill.

The brushes are amzn.to/2BpR4xy and ink is amzn.to/2I2fAKI This is not paint but dye, so there is no bad effect on the speaker sound.

And chrome cap, I wash them with mild detergent and use goo gone to remove all dirty residue. In case if there is still heavy residue there, I use stainless cleaner such as www.soft99.co.jp/products/homecare/kitchen/metal_polish.html?pid=20504 from Japan. However, it is important not to use too much or scrub too strong, otherwise it will remove the chrome painting.

Great work! Can you tell me please what ac/ dc adapter is working for it? It's only labled with 9v but i think 9v @1A is not enough... Ps. Super funk tape :)

Try to replace the rubber belt but is super hard. My is black with the chrome trim. Perfect sound. Cassette don't work ☹

Take a time, step by step. Remove inside parts gently then you can replace cassette deck belts.

It is Japanese calligraphy ink, and it is "dye" but not painting, so there is no harm for the sound. It just make speakers real pure black and makes it looking good. Especially when the speaker cone's color is fading out.

Once I have a time I do restoration of my stock boomboxes and list them online. Maybe you can buy from my ebay or etsy, etc.. online site someday. But I am currently very busy to restore my client's boombox and can not do the restoration of my own boomboxes for selling.

I think any 9V adaptor should work regardless ampere size.

Test it with batteries, if it work, then test it with another 9V adapter. I do not remember the detail, but was there any switch for adapter or battery? There could be a chance that your boombox's 9V jack is broken, or any other reason not to work.

HI, Salvador. Thank you for your comment and opinion. Before, I used normal speed to create the whole video, but I needed to cut most of the work due to make entire video length short. So these days I decided to show all of my work by 5x speed. And slow to normal speed when it comes to the most important work point. I probably keep doing this editing way for a while to find out another style. Thank you again!
