in all fairness, episode 8 -14 (baring the episodes with yui) is volume 1 while 1 through 7 is volume 2. so in other words, sachi didn't even come into existence after sao ended while the anime simply followed the series chronologically which is why in episodes 8-14, sachi's death doesn't appear to have an effect on kirito because he was written with out said effect.

I remember reading a comment that joked that Fluffles was a pet cat that some children shoved into a nerve gear. And I believe the same comment tried bringing up how in game stats like charisma can make humans do things they otherwise wouldn’t, and used intelligence as an example. So theoretically maybe Fluffles was a perfectly normal cat that, through pure luck, managed to put points into intelligence. Which in turn made it smarter until they eventually became on par with a person.

Kinda terrifying too. The ability to program experiences and their objective quality, and the scenario of experiencing the greatesting thing one could ever experience and render anything else nothing but disappointing. Kinda reminds me of that SCP scientist who drank "the greatest drink in existence" from the sentient keyboard coffee machine and later killed himself because living was too dull for him.

One line. One half-assed line of dialogue gives this one secondary antagonist in a parody youtube series more backstory and nuance than most main villains get nowadays. Whole tragic backstory and everything in a few simple words. Doesn't justify his actions in the slightest, but having an abusive mother and somehow getting off to it would help explain them. Shame he got killed off, but on the other hand asuna actually killing him is great too.

Wow I had to turn on subtitles to get that but holy shit. I've watched every one of these soooooo many times each and I've caught sooo many things that I've missed the 1st couple time. Then once I think I've caught ever lil hidden tibit I end up deciding to check out the comment section and realize there's 1 or 2 things I never noticed in dang near each episode. Hence why this abridged series is such a masterpiece

My favorite aspect of SAO is that the bad guy was like “if you wanna escape, beat floor 100”. Which means escape was always possible and assumed to be a thing. So all these people killing other players were doing it with the full knowledge that the real world waited for them outside. Imagine this game ends, the police start reviewing the game logs. They’d know each and every time someone died outside of an arena, who killed them, and when. It’s so weird seeing players just go nuts and become edgelords. Heathcliff’s unlanded movie reference at 2:20 is a telltale sign that he is Kayaba, throw back to episode 1 where both of his movie references where too dated for the audience as he is a full grown adult and most of them are young.

I love this version because theres actual CONTINUITY. Like jesus guy from episode one begins laughing coffin and the cat KEEPS SHOWING UP. ITS GREAT

Like the deal with Sachi, it was just a one-off episode in the orig that's never brought up again. But here it's not only recurring trauma, but was actually memorable when it happened lol. Also for the other replies, the Jesus guy was at the end of ep 2 not 1.

Their relationship is crazy, abusive, hateful, and fueled by lust instead of love, but by God, I still buy it more than the "We kissed once, let's get married" relationship of the actual show!

But in the actual show they’d been fighting on the frontlines together for a while, solved a murder mystery together, and had a mutually beneficial relationship in which they saved each other’s lives and were equals. Don’t knock the original’s strongest point. Kirito and Asuna’s relationship was a very beautiful thing. Rare too, since anime almost never crosses that line. Not the mainstream ones anyway.

There’s a lot of movie references but I think there may be a book reference or two in this series. In this episode when asuna is crying she says “I’m such a girl” which sounds like a reference to “to kill a mockingbird”

Honestly if it is a book reference that Asuna’s making it’d tie really well into the whole movie reference parallel that Kirito has with Kayaba They both make movie references that the other gets, since they come from very similar places (nerds who were always at the bottom of the power dynamic suddenly finding themselves at the top and not really knowing what to do about it or how to fit in the new social climate), until the very end when Kirito has undergone all his character development while Kayaba hasn’t, and Kirito makes a reference that he and Kayaba have different sources for (“I reject your reality and substitute my own!”, which Kirito gets from Mythbusters and Kayaba gets from Dungeon Masters). Same episode, Asuna makes a movie reference of her own (“I love you.” “I know.” From Star Wars) showing how much more in sync they are and the new point of their characters If she’s making book references as they get closer that’d be a super interesting gradient to show them developing their bond but not having it fully cemented yet like it is in the last aincrad episode

Even after all this years, abridged Kirito is still the most arguing, upsetting, no-shamed awesome bastard that always makes me laugh. I really wants to see this series to the very end. It's just simply perfect.
