Some social grant recipients have raised concerns about the slow pace at which Post Office are replacing their cards. They say that the long queues and delays on the replacements may lead to them not receiving their grants next month. Post Office is calling on all affected beneficiaries to calm down, as they can still receive their grant payments.
Beneficiaries have been queueing at Post Offices in an attempt to replace their Sassa Gold Cards. This comes amid plans by Post Office to improve the social grants payments. This includes the replacement of the Sassa Gold Cards in the near future. These beneficiaries say Sassa should come with other means to ensure that they get paid.
According to the Post Office there is no need for Sassa grant recipients to switch their payment method from the Sassa Gold Cards. It has assured recipients that the new card-less method is fast, free, and safe, and beneficiaries can get assistance from cashiers if needed. The method is meant to help and reduce the queues for card replacements at Post Office branches as there is no longer a need to collect cards to be paid.
