Always happy to see more teardowns. The shot could be a bit closer. AFAIK it's not your expertise per se, but a VRM and component analysis plus comparisons between cards would be amazing. Power phases and quality of VRMs, that kind of thing. Think reliability rating. A lot of cards on the market seem different, but pretty identical under the hood, knowing which ones go above and beyond the reference design is very valuable.

I do prefer to look at or talk about the cooling and build quality, but you are correct I should do a better analysis of the board and components.

"This stuff's hard" could indicate one of two things. It's either the type of paste... bad crumbly paste is actually sort of common on GPUs. or it's not paste at all but phase change polymer, which is GREAT, because it's got same or better performance than best pastes, but doesn't degrade over time. The way you can tell apart is by applying isopropyl alcohol, paste instantly dissolves in it, while it does nothing to phase change polymer, it stays in chunks. Fan number 9010, 90 nominal diameter (including shroud/frame which is not part of the fan, so closer to 87mm real), 10mm thickness including motor base, H, usually you find here either S or B, S stands for sleeve bearing and B for dual ball bearing. Is H supposed to be rifled/hydrodynamic bearing? 12D, is the voltage and i have no clue what the final letters ever mean.

Glad you're doing teardowns. The Pulse cards have never been that great. Good enough, like the MSI Mech and Asus Dual. Heatsinks are just too small and light. Sapphire has also always been stingy with the thermal pads (I think Powercolor is worse in this regard).

If this was at max £229 for the better models at launch i would have got this over a used RTX 3060 TI. AMD can't demand the same money Nvidia can with lack of features, poor marketing and mindshare.
