SAPU warns new police minister not to interfere with operational matters

The South African Policing Union is warning new Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu not to interfere with the operational matters of the police. SAPU says the operational responsibilities lie with the national commissioner. Hugo Ribatika speaks to the union's acting spokesperson, Jabu Mabena.

What a cheek. President Ramaphosa appointed Minister Senzo Mchunu, where does SAPU get off telling him how to do his job, he is not a figurehead. Cele did nothing, crime was out of control under his watch. The Minister needs to look into how things are run and change anything, to improve the position, as he thinks necessary, in particular corruption at police stations.

The minister is justify in every way to interfere in operational matters otherwise there will be no accountability when the inept saps bend their constitutional mandate and the bill of rights!! A union has an obligation to fight for the worker rights of its members, nothing else.
