Outstanding! Gul-ji has surpassed herself, as have the musicians and chorus. The scene from the film is worth watching because of the magnificent light and shade photography of Guru Dutt's principal cinematographer VK Murthy. One especially notices how the dancers surrounding Minoo Mumtaz, the central dancer, are very often in complete shadow, while she herself is brightly illuminated. This provides an effective, brooding tone to the choreography of the dance itself and provides an overall dark quality to the entire scene. And Hemant Da's superb music, and YG Chawhan's great editing...It's a fine scene from a lovely film. Thank you, Gul-ji and friends! Dr Sudevan Wisconsin
