The NFLPA should do something about this. Running backs are being screwed over by the franchise tag and the whole league is colluding. If none of them can ever get a deal the tag won't go up for their position and this will go on with the best rbs coming of rookie deals for years. These guys put their bodies on the line more then any other position, touch the ball on offense 3x as much as top WR's and have the least amount of longevity. Yet they can't even make like half of what WR's make when they are in the prime or get a decent 3/4 year deal. Franchise em, run em into the ground and draft their replacement...

Im a giants fan and as much as I love Saquon in New York, I think they should stick to there guns and keep him on the tag and eventually trade him if possible. Signing backs(especially with injury history) to long term deals hardly ever works in the teams favor and although I wouldn't be mad at them resigning him, I would rather they didn't.

I don't see why people can't understand the primary reason for the Giants and DJ's success last season and the dilemma they are in now. Of course Daboll has had a role in it to a large degree especially in his design and utilizing DJ's strengths. However, the obvious difference at least to me is the fact that Saquon was healthy for the entire season. DJ is a different QB when he is working without Saquon. Just look at the win column and the highlights of last season and they are almost all related to Saquon and his performances. In addition to his on field abilities, he is loved by his teammates and is the perfect example of what a true Giant is. "Once a Giant, always a Giant"

It seems pretty obvious to me that the NFL, and the nflpa clearly need to do some hard renegotiating on how the franchise tag works in the NFL. Because every year it seems like more and more players are dreading the idea of being stuck with the franchise tag, rather than being able to take their chances in free agency. And especially this season, with the way Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are entangled in this non-exclusive franchise tag scenario, it just feels like the terms are not acceptable for the players side of it.

I've been a Jones supporter from day one. BUT he's not worth the 40M. He's over paid by at least 9M. Giants should've focused more on Barkley. Unfortunately both Barkley and Jones are injury prone players. This alone should drive their contracts down a bit.

Barkley you pay the going rate for a running back for a 5 year contract with real money for 3 to wiggle on the cap. 5 years 55 million 27 guaranteed. You're only gambling half a year of the Jones contract on Barkley's health. Curious why GM's haven't caught on that with todays NFL rules and such that RBs give their prst production in the first 3 to 4 years. No need to sign big contracts to RBs. Zeke is the prime example. Few exemptions.

They won’t trade saquon this year. Maybe next year but not this year. The only option will be he plays and gets the 10 million, and around the trade deadline he’s gonna sign a contract at about 12.5-13 million dollars a year for 3 years with 22-25 guaranteed. So he will get the bulk of the money year 2 where dexter Lawrence’s contract can be spaced out and Andrew Thomas/Xavier McKinney will be on their fifth years each. Worst case saquon gets traded at the deadline for probably a significant haul of picks. And I doubt that would happen.
