11 жыл бұрынIn November 1996, Andrea and Sarah Brightman were invited to perform the duet 'Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò)' at the farewell contest of the German World Light-Heavyweight boxing champion, Henry Maske. A national hero held in unrivaled esteem, he is known for his love of selecting entrance themes to his bouts. Sarah Brightman, the internationally renowned soprano and friend of Henry Maske heard 'Con Te Partirò' in a restaurant while dining with her friends. Entranced by the singer and the song, Brightman made contact with Andrea. Andrea and Brightman re-recorded 'Con Te Partirò' as the duet 'Time To Say Goodbye' with members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
This live version is from Brightman's first full concert recording, "Sarah Brightman: In Concert", from London's Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Paul Bateman. Guest artists include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Adam Clark and Andrea Bocelli. The concert was released to video in 1998.
The concert was directed by David Mallet.

I lost my love of 45 years 8 months ago to illness. She was only 69 years old and so full of life. This song brings me to my knees. I only hope I can join her soon.

YES, SHE IS OUTWARDLY BEAUTIFUL. And that is what most of us "see' when we look at her. Imagine being sight-blind and unable to "see' those qualities of beauty. HE would need to rely on some other sense of determining "beauty" in a woman. I believe both His and Her interactions were more than practiced AFTECTATIONS. They both held each other in DEAR regard. Simple; Honest and Pure of Heart. That IS the magic.

I am almost 60 years old and have never had a woman look at and touch me like she did to him, This performance makes me so happy and so sad at the same time. It is almost over now, so maybe in the next one. If you have seen that look from a partner, you were blessed. If you still see it, reflect on how truly lucky you are. Not everyone has.

I apologise for making yet another comment. Sadly I have been in hospital for far too long in the last few months, was close to dying twice, such is life ! I just watched this again, whilst my physical health is dire fortunately, as yet, my grey cells seem to be working. Once again this made me shed a few tears, it really moves me. Hopefully, it is not, quite yet, Time to Say Goodbye !

my sister was in the hospital for a couple months as well she has major chromes disease and had to have an 8 hour surgery because of it, but she's better and home now thank god. hope you get well soon.

Still listening in 2024! My Daddy was in love with Sarah Brightman. He used to say " if she was my girl, I'd be penniless". We grew up in a house of music, Opera, John Denver, Stevie Wonder, Niel Diamond, Journey, Elton John, Jonny Cash, Ella Fitzgerald. We played this song at my Fathers funeral in 2003, miss you Daddy.

I worked as a musician on the Grand Princess in 98 and they would blast this song out from the ship whenever we would depart Venice. It was the biggest cruise ship in the world at that time, so the port would be crowded to watch us leave. But more than that, GORGEOUS song! I learned how to play it, of course.

Hoping you have a couple of epi pens on you. I've had asthma since I was 6 (now 65). I keep a nebulizer and liquid albuterol handy for bad periods. Works better and longer than the aerosol inhalers. Use care and keep well hydrated. Use your meds at the first sign of trouble. Take good care.

My grandparents introduced me to this performance via VHS and I would watch it with them every so often. Later, after my grandmother died, my grandfather (Sicilian) had very little going on in his life and was counting the days to join her again. He thought he had nothing else left to do on this world without her. Well, in 2008, two years before he would pass on himself I bought tickets for he and I to go see Andrea Bocelli. It cost me my entire tax return but I would have paid millions more just to show my grandfather there was a reason to stick around. Which he understood that night. He cried during the show. And I cried when I saw him crying. Real music can be soulbound and even after all hope is lost, it can open your heart once more. Rest in peace to my grandfather, Giovanni Decorrado for even in death you are the greatest man I know.

Hi there. Wow that's just beautiful! I can relate because my Grandfather just passed away very recently. This was one of our absolute favorite songs (Grandma's too!) that would always be playing in the car. It's nice to look back and remember those beautiful memories and re-live those moments. I wrote my Grandfather's Eulogy that was read today and I included lyrics from this song in it. Just remember that it's never goodbye but rather see you later. 😊

Sarah's gesture of reassurance to Andrea would be my most favorite part of the video. The way she looks at him, the way she holds his hands and leans on him. It must be very difficult to perform without seeing anyone to whom you are performing but Sarah's gestures give reassurance on this.
