Sarah Jarosz is just 22, and was still in high school when she signed her first record deal, but she's already made a mark on the folk and bluegrass scene thanks to her deep bluegrass knowledge and exceptional instrumental skills.
The singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist recently completed her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, which is best known for its classical program. And as a result, Jarosz's just-released third album, Build Me Up From Bones, is her boldest work yet. Like her pervious work, the new songs are warmly pretty, and remain indebted to her folk and bluegrass roots. But the new record also takes on a somewhat darker and deeper sound.
Watch Sarah Jarosz perform "Mile On The Moon," live in the Soundcheck studio.

I fell in love with Sarah when she was 9 years old. She and her mother were regulars at the Wimberley Texas Friday Night Bluegrass Jam. We played "rounds". We went around the circle of musicians and each of us selected a number to play. Sarah was spot on at that young age and we all knew that she was destined for a great music career.

What a cool story Lee. I have been watching Sarah evolve for the last 10 years (online... you are so lucky to know her). She has become one of Americas best songwriters, loved and respected by all who work with her.

"dreamed we fell into the night Your darkness shined the brightest light We drove for miles on the moon I’d go anywhere with you"..... Love her style, the simplicity of her lyrics, the purity of her voice.....the clarity of her thoughts.

Her voice is a emotional knife that cuts to the soul....and what a beautiful touch on the strings of the instruments she plays...what a blessing it is to hear such beauty.

This song "Mile On The Moon" in particular is very beautiful and well done. The new songs (album 2013 "Build Me Up From Bones") are more carefully constructed, well-defined melodic lines, the voice of Sarah feels more safer, more controlled, especially in high grades, compared with the vocal performance in previous albums. Thus, the path is made by walking, and in view of her 22 years old, in her compositions reveals traces of a musical maturity unusual, if we consider also the demanding musical area where Sarah Jarosz is inserted.
