Amazing to realize that Sarah wrote this song about a stalker she had who wrote weird threatening letters including many of these lyrics. It's a brilliant turn on a scary time in her life. I have seen Sarah live 9x and, yes, this song and this performance is spectacular.

I can't believe I've been loving this song for 30 years now ! A Favorite Sarah performance of a track from "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" is of "Elsewhere" that she does with Paula Cole that's out there in youtube land . The song of Sarah's that breaks me up every time I listen to it is "Hold On" . I can't fathom how you mine such deep emotional feelings to write such a song .

This song is as refreshing as I first heard it 30 years ago! I just saw her in concert on Thursday and she was electrifying! She was so friendly and personable in between songs! She is so appreciative of her fans!

I grew up in the 80s and my main music is 70s/80s hard rock... but I absolutely loved Sarah McLachlan in the 90s. If you want to hear something "sort-of" similar, but equally awesome singer (although never made it big...), Sleepthief - "Eurydice" and also Balligomingo - "Purify". Both are sung by another Canadian chick (Jody Quine) who also has an amazing vocal range, and I would say somewhat similar music style. Too bad she never made it big. Those two songs are killer good and every bit as good as Sarah M. For newer rock, check out DELAIN "Moth to a Flame" or "The Quest and the Curse".

She is currently on tour in the US and Canada for the 30th Anniversary of Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.

I randomly bought this album from BMG music service around this time. I was very impressed. Wasn't long after she was suddenly everywhere.

Sarah was one of the founders of Lilith Fair back in the 90s. It was an amazing gathering of some of the best female singer-songwriters of that era.

One of the best songs of the 90s. Saw her perform back in the 90 s at a venue called Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. The venue is on the top of a mountain so even in the throes of middle summer heat a crisp stiff breeze blows over the venue when the sun goes down. Sara was dressed like in your video with bare arms and shoulders and she started remarking that she was feeling pretty cold because of the breeze. In an instant a half a dozen ladies were in front of the stage holding out sweaters for her. Sara was flabbergasted and was like OMG how great you guys are but how do I chose?

Haven't even watched yet, but one of my favorite songs in the whole world. That whole album (Fumbling Towards Ecstasy) is absolutely flawless. EDIT: I just got to the part that you said you bought the album by mistake and ended up loving it!! It is so good. The only song I don't really like on it - but which every one else loves - is Ice Cream. I think it takes away from the dark tone of the rest of the album. She is doing a tour right now celebrating the album's 30th anniversary, but I injured my dumb leg and couldn't go. :(

Sarah has such a beautiful and unique voice. She's one of those people who could sing anything and make it sound good. I think my favorite Sarah McLachlan song is "Fallen". I'd love for you to react to it someday. Another one of my favorites is a duet she does with Bryan Adams called "Don't Let Go". It is from the animated horse movie called "Spirit".
