Windsurfing is a form of sailing, where a board is powered across the water by the wind.
Windfoiling has taken the windsurfing world by storm and is now is on everybody’s mind. You may have been sceptical about the whole foiling thing, but the fact is that everyone that has tried foiling has only positive things to say about it.
If you are a complete beginner, this article will hopefully give you a better understanding of what windfoiling is, how it works, and give you some guidelines and tips on how to choose the right foiling equipment. Light wind windsurfing has become fun again, like in the good old days.
Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam 2019
The spot of choice on Fuerteventura must be Sotavento, one of the most famous places to wind- and kite-surf in the world! The beaches are wide with gorgeous golden sand and the local lagoons at Sotavento and Risco del Paso provide shallow, flat waters for beginners and freestyles. The biggest selling point of the spot though, is of course the wind! The prevailing north-east trade wind on the island gets a massive speed boost thanks to the terrain. That powerful, consistent blow is what makes the entire island a paradise for freestylers and slalom speed demons.

30 years ago I thought I was half way decent to do duckjibes, clewfirst water starts and chop hop mast high. The skill now days are amazing.

Windsurfing has this reputation now of being this has been baby boomer sport. If you think this looks boring I'd like to know what you are into. Maybe they are not getting 30 feet in the air on flat water that even overweight old kiteboarders can pull off but still far from bowling, cornhole or SUP on flat water. What else is cool about windsurfing is that is one of the few sports where crashing can be fun with a low probability of breaking bones.

You are right, the reputation of Windsurfing is this baby boomer thing, but it is not a sport only for mid ager. More and more young people far under 30 are into Windsurfing, especially Freestyle. Thatˋs a very good thing for this wonderful sport! 🤙🏻😎

I've windsurfed for 35 years, had Sotavento almost for my own during 9 months in the early nineties, but this discipline can't move me. It looks such a show off. Look mammy: without hands. Sign of the times...?

Ok, Sotavento is one of my local spots, when not in lockdown, and looks like this year there won't be any PWA but the only reason I'm watching this is because of the ass shot in the opening credits. So I'm now sitting here incredibly disappointed. Back to lockdown surfing I suppose. Juntos estamos fuerte.
