Thank you for this explanation. I tried to teach it to my stitch group and thoroughly confused everyone as they couldn’t see for my fingers. I pointed them to this video, which they agreed was clear and precise, so more followers for you.

Thanks for the video. Funny story...When I was child, I remember having some kind of cloth with shisha mirrors and kept feeling I need to Windex them to get the dust off. Found myself feeling the same in the beginning of this video with the cloth you showed us. Think I'm gonna have to get over having "dusty shishas"...I think they are par for the course. :)

Feel free to dust your mirrors if you want to McCoeur! I would probably avoid putting any kind of cleaning solution on them though as it might get onto your thread...

I remember this technique from an embroidery exhibition I visited years ago and was impressed with it. I vaguely recalled how to do it (basically the # of threads at the start), so I'm grateful for this tuition. Thank you.

Sarah you have tried... but its other way round you take the neddle in the circle and take out on edge make a button hole stitch....
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery 6 жыл бұрын
If you look carefully you can see that I'm making a buttonhole stitch but if you have another method that works for you then great. There are lots of different and beautiful ways to stitch down shisha mirrors; this is just one method taught to me by an Indian embroiderer but I have lots of other ways I like to use too...

I used a cotton perle thread Angel in this video. It's a nice strong thread to use for mirrors that doesn't untwist, but you can use other threads!

Excellent tutorial. This is practically buttonhole stitch/eyelet stitch (broderie anglaise) and the one we do for Richelieu. But I had seen another method of embroidering the mirrors, where the framework is the same, but the visible stitch itself has a double loop. See here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8WWmr11npyUiKM.html. Probably both are used? I also found a tutorial by an Indian lady for three different techniques including embellishments. Cannot understand her explanation, but it's easy to understand if you put the video on slower motion. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLWYnaV0xr6pYn0.html
