I have 2 small ones in a 25L tank, is that too small?
@2ManyHobbysАй бұрын
They will stay small and you will have to do lots of water changes. Larger and bioactive is better for water quality. Goldfish like swimming and moving water so not ideal for them but they can survive. It's more about volume per total inches of fish and how water is treated.

What are your water parameters? I can’t seem to keep anacharis/elodea alive with my goldfish

I started using mainly rain water for makeup vs city water with detox added. When I do add city water, I mix it with detox and let it sit before adding. This helped a lot. My 800g pond gets a good mix of shade and sun and is 32" deep. I haven't checked water chemistry in years since I got the bio perfect. I use to have a UV clarifier but didn't need after using rain water. I just use barley for algae control plus it isn't in full sun all day and what does get sun is covered by water plants.

Where did you get these really long fins sarasa? Do you sell these? I would love to get a few or at least a pair.

I've been selective breeding for bright red with long fins for over 10 years. I only get a few outliers when they have babies now. Breeding slowed down recently because my pond is full.

Are you near NC?
@2ManyHobbys Жыл бұрын
I started around 2007 by getting just a few fish from a private breeder nearby but only selecting the ones that met my criteria over the course of 3 years. Then I only kept babies that matched my breeding program and got rid of the rest.

I have about 22 of them in my pond. I originally started off with 6 of them (babies) in 2016 outdoor small pond. They made babies 2 years later2 2018 and then again in 2019 another round was the last batch of babies. Last year 1 baby sarasa appeared. It stays far away from them. Question: will the older ones eat the eggs? I had 1000's of tiny lil balls which im assuming are eggs on the roots of my hyacinth water plants. Question#2 Are they killing the eggs because of space? Question#3 Will the bigger ones attack other big fish? Because im certain a few were getting bullied. My biggest all bright white very shiny sarasa was dead inside the pond. I have 5 that are about 10 to 11 inches and the rest 5 to 8inches. 1 sarasa about an 1inch big

1. Yes and babies too. A healthy growth of anacharis will help them survive until larger. 2. Cover more so than space. 3. Spring mating has them chasing and bullying females
