I have heard from my Malayalee friend that Salil Choudhury is a very popular music composer of Malayalee songs also. But who were the lyricists ? I am asking because lyrics also play a great role on the overall effect of the song. If the tune sets your mood, it is the lyrics which determines how deep it will touch your heart. In this album in most of the cases lyricist is Salil Choudhury himself.

There are good, greats and then there are geniuses. Salil Chowdhury is a bonafide genius. Thanks for the playlist, what is astonishing is that it is probably less than 10% of his work, such was the range of this legend.

Actually Salil Chowdhary‘s success in Malayalam cannot be compared with what he had with other industries including Bengali. He will be best remembered for his hit Malayalam songs and his association with Vayalar and Yesudas.

Music Salildas'.Full of melody.Divine in nature,its' like tunes sung in the durbar of God's.Haunting.Once you become familiar with it ,we can't help it, but hum it for the rest of your life.Tunes makes us addicted to it for Seven Births. I belong to Kerala. But I listen to Bengali songs, the meaning of which I do not know, to listen to the tunes in its original form.

Salil Chowdhury's ancestral village is at Subhashgram, Harinavi, South 24 Parganas of West Bengal. He was born in Assam where his father was employed as a Medical practitioner. He never belonged to Sylhet. Even he had no connection with Sylhet or any other part of East Bengal ( Today's Bangladesh).
