The Saris 802 SuperBones 3 bike black trunk mounted bicycle rack is Saris's new and improved Bones trunk and hatch mounted bike rack. I also notice that this video does not put the single bike closes to the vehicle. Other videos say to put heaviest bike closest to the vehicle, so I would think if there's only one bike, it should be placed closes to vehicle--not at the end.

I use a bungee to keep the front wheel straight too.

New SuperBones owner. Hmmm. This detailed installation video by etrailer kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8V0qLRknr3DooE.html that I watched first directly contradicts the "Never let the bottom arms rest on the bumper" advice for ALL vehicles. The etrailer rep in the video above clearly has them resting on the bumper for a Subaru vehicle, and it looks like it works fine in the video afterwards, which seems to show same vehicle and bikes loaded and being tested on the road. Also, the installation manual Step 5 also says "Use fit guide information to properly position lower feet on bumper, trunk face, or license plate. Moreover, this SARIS video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q8qarKuYl8XKnHk.html says the lower arms can be put on the video though the installer doesn't choose to do that. However, when questioned, the makers of the etrailer video it's a "goof" in the comments, and looking at the picture on Saris's website for my 2006 Prius, I note that the lower arms aren't resting on the bumper, so I'll try to replicate that fit. It terms of weighing the "evidence" on whether or not the lower arms should ever rest on the bumper, I'd say we have a hung jury. I'd definitely like to see more comments on this topic.

Since it can hold a total of 105 lbs., i was wondering if it could hold two, sixty pound bikes.

Hi Rod, the weight rating is 105lbs as you stated. Your two 60lb bikes would be exceeding the rating and we cannot confirm whether or not the rack will hold more, that is why the weight rating is put in place for the rack.

@@rackwarehouse oh, yeah. Sorry, that weight includes the front wheels, which i was planning to remove. I need to weigh them without the front wheel, but I’m pretty sure they would be below 105. However, they don’t have a crossbar, and I haven’t figured out how to attach a clamp on one. Assuming i can get the pair within the total weight limit, and that I can resolve the mounting issue, and assuming i mount them in towards the car, would i be ok? My engineering background says it should work, because it’s mostly a torque thing, and the extra weight is closer to the car. But I wanted to confirm.

35 poundws per bike or rack. you cant put a 100 poiund bike on one of the 3 raxks and expect it to hold@@rodboggess
