Thelma Z. Lavine gives a lecture on Sartre's existentialist views on ethics and social relations as part of a wonderful televised lecture series called 'From Socrates to Sartre, A Historical Introduction to Philosophy'. Note, the music has been edited out.

Thank you! I have watched some of these videos with my 12 year old son. And the other night, he asked me, as I was taking him to bed, "Play that video, the video of the lady talking about philosophy"

She’s great! I watched these videos on PBS years ago and I thought something had to be wrong with me (since I couldn’t discuss them with anyone around me). Now, thanks to KZfaq, I realize I was not the only “weird” individual out there. She’s like a bright star in a very, very dark sky.

Thanks to your marvelous channel, I bought Dr. Lavine's book some weeks ago, and am reading the chapter on Sartre right now. Each chapter concludes with a list of recommendations for further reading, which I will check out as well. 🙂

I had the same feeling ❤ Great women who, with style and mesmerising command of English, made the complexity the mastered accessible to bigger audiences. Unparalleled.

We can't look to nature is a bit hand-wavy, we just don't know is more accurate. As someone who studies the history of evolutionary thought I wouldn't have killed myself to see him speak.
