I loved how the sashiko stitching went beyond the patch fabric in the second example! I think that was what made that one feel so special! Less bulk is certainly great, too. Beautiful work! Thank you

I frequently wear long pants and shorts that are made out of a lighter cotton twill type fabric. One pair of my shorts got torn in the pocket a couple years ago. I've been trying to figure out how to mend the pocket and make them wearable again. These tutorials give me hope that I can wear them this summer.

Thank you! This pen is easy to draw and normally removable when drawn on dark colour fabric so I didn’t expect it😅 I need to investigate how to remove heat erasable pens in general.

Nice video and very clear demonstration of the steps! I prefer raw edged patches--to control any excessive fraying, I cut the patches on the bias grain if at all possible. Bias is inherently self-limiting when it comes to fraying, so you get the slightly shabby look but there is no chance that it will go too far.

I never thought about cutting then on the bias grain!! That’s so interesting and clever. Thank you so much for sharing!!😊

動画もありますよ⬇️ DIY Sashiko thimble making (Part 2) with a metal covered button kit kzfaq.info/get/bejne/npmXm658mryZeWg.html

Another lovely video!❤ Say, what are you using for your marking tool?
@thegreenwrapper
@thegreenwrapper 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question😊 The marker I used in this particular video is a White Marking Pen from Clover. They are usually great when you draw on darker materials. I use different markers for different projects, but I haven’t found a perfect marker yet. This video below shows different markers I use for Sashiko projects. Which fabric marker should I use for drawing Sashiko patterns? Sashiko basics series Part 4 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpeffJZ7vJfJZ5c.html

Thank you for your feedback! The speed is indeed always tricky😅. Some people prefer to be able to see the details as books don’t explain everything. But for some people who have experience in Sashiko may find my videos slow. Thank you for your comment. I will try to see what I can do to improve it😊

Thank you for your feedback😊 There are some patterns with simpler stitches too, if you are interested🪡🧵 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptKioKx6nZywfYE.htmlsi=eLlXlnE5bHxmcwYv The idea of the traditional Sashiko mending is to reinforce the fabric itself by weaving with stitches, so unfortunately it tends to be fussy😅 but people enjoy creating a lot of beautiful patterns with stitches, so you can not only mend your garments but also embellish them.😊

What do you think about using an unhemmed patch cut with pinking shears instead? It'd help with the fraying but the edges might look a little weird.
@thegreenwrapper
@thegreenwrapper Жыл бұрын
I’ve never tried it but it can be also a good idea😊 I’ve washed and dried them one more time after the video, but the patch hasn’t frayed further. It’s really depending on personal preferences too. I think visible mending doesn’t have strict rules. You can experiment with your idea and find the best way for you!
